  • Eurail pass hidden fees?

I'm looking to do some traveling in Europe this fall. Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and the countries in between. over about 3 months.

right now i plan to bus between cities, i dont plan on staying anywhere for too long and am on a tight a budget i can possible be. I've been told to get one of the passes on the Eurail, or a something. I've heard from some places its a pass that lets you on and off at will, but other places said that the pass only gives you a discount, a second fee is needed before you board the train.

can someone explain to me how the Eurail passes work? is there another fee other than the actual pass?

  • Will my power adapter work in Israel?

I bought a power adapter for Spain last summer. For small stuff my my ipod and phone to be charged, nothing big. A simple two round prong adapter. I'm now going to Israel and need an adapter for the same reason. some of the pictures i've seen of Israeli outlets look very similar to the ones in Spain. Will my adapter work well enough or will i have to buy a new one for this trip?

  • Turning 21 in New York City?

My birthday is just 3 weeks away, i will be turning 21.

I'm traveling through New York for the next couple of weeks and am looking for a place to get a drink to celebrate

    conditions...

    something reasonably priced

small (i'm not big into clubs and dancing)

preferably in the upper west side (where i'm staying, but i can travel)

    some place friendly

i did some traveling in europe and had no problem finding quaint little bars to meet locals and other travelers, but the culture is so different in New York that it's harder to find. I can't really expect the same experience but there are thousands of fliers and ads everywhere for places that are either too high class or look sketchy, i'm just looking for some place quiet worth having a drink in.

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

  • best mobile internet for traveling?

I'm currently traveling around the country for the next few months. I'm looking for a mobile internet service to stay connected. The plan i have with my phone is limited to 5gb, so i'm pretty much limited to 2 movies on Netflix a month. All i'm finding in similar qualities in other plans. a 5gb cap or unlimited and it "slows down" after a set limit.

i'm looking for truly unlimited internet access. One that i can travel with and wont slow down on me after a few gigs. Any suggestions.

  • website that lets me build a map?

I wanna create a map that shows select cities in europe and where they relate to one and other.

so i want a map that shows where Hamburg is, where Sarajevo is, and where Barcelona is (and a few other cities). But only those cities.

so far all i can find is maps that will highlight those cities but the whole thing is congested with locations of everything else.

Is there a website where i can build a map that only shows cities that i want highlighted, and not one that shows every city?

  • Going through airport security twice?

I am currently in Barcelona heading home to the US in a few days. We all know that you cant get through airport security with liquids. But i would like to bring home a bottle of wine or two. After i get in the terminal, i can just buy a bottle at one of the shops in the airport no problem, and carry that onto the plane.

But, my plane stops in Lisbon and i have to change flights. Ive never taken a connecting flight before and i dont know if i'll have to go through security again, thus not being able to hold on to the bottle i bought in Barcelona.

Do i need to go through security again or should i not have a problem?

I know that i could probably find better wine and cheaper in some local shops here but i dont wanna risk putting the bottle in my bag and having it break while being man-handled in the undercarriage. I probably will do that and try to put as much packing around it as i can. But i would still like a back-up plan to carry on the plane.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

  • Thrift Stores in Barcelona?

i´m currently on the road traveling europe. I will be in Barcelona next week. Im looking for a store that has cheap second-hand suits.

I dont mean getting a good discount on formal wear... I mean CHEAP.

Basically, a friend im meeting up with invited me to an event where people will be ruining these suits in some sort of food fight. I i had known about this before i left i wouldve pack something. I did a similar event back in the USA some months ago and there is a store near where i live that had worn out cloths for very cheap. I was able to get a shirt, jacket and pants for around $25. It was old, alittle torn, and kinda big on me but since it was being ruined, i didnt care.

Thats what iºm looking for in Barcelona.

does anyone know any shop that would sell stuff like that. A second hand store that sells old cloths for cheap. This isnt something they put in a tourist book some i´m looking to ask some locals. (my friends not a local, he no help with this).

any info on shops or areas i should look for would be a great help.

  • Where can i get paid for blood donations?

I've been donating blood for a few years now. A friend who works at the local blood center told me that the blood center sells the blood to hospitals for a small profit.

I understand the importance of donating blood, and the need for the blood center to use this money to get more donations.

But, since someone was getting paid anyway, why couldnt it be me? i could use the money. skip the middle man and sell directly.

My question is where can i sell blood. I know it's not a lot of money but for me (college student) every bit helps. I found a website that listed places (http://www.biolifeplasma.com/index.html) but they didnt list any place in New Jersey. Anyone know how to find a place that pays for donations?

  • Is anyone else getting tired of contrarians?

It's ok to not like some major movies but you cant dislike something just because you think everyone likes it.

    Titanic

    Avatar

    The Dark Knight

alot of people i hear complain about these movies just say "Over-rated" or "bad" but never give a reason, and it's driving me crazy.

I'm not saying their the greatest movies ever but they are good movies and if asked i can give plenty of reasons why they are, as well as how their good points outweigh the bad.

If you want to complain about a movie that is bad, you have to give a better excuse than "Pocahontas" which, btw, is a rip off of Romeo and Juliet and still a good movie

  • 42inch sharp tv stand?

My brother just gave me his old tv. Its a 42 inch SHARP TV, about 5 inches deep.

he was keeping it on a shelf, leaned up against a wall. nothing holding it in place but the wall and a rubber mat to keep it from sliding off.

now i have it. I need to put it on my TV stand. Its a pretty basic stand thats made for older box tvs to just sit there. The new tv isnt able to stand on its own. i cant lean it against the wall. (or attach anything to the wall)

    MY QUESTION

how do i get my tv to stay in place? what kind of stand to i get so that it will fit on top of my current setup (thats not going anywhere)? Where do i get one? how much?

  • Is this probable cause for search?

Theres a story this month (when i found out about it anyway) from England where a house showed a heat source in a particular area. The police thought it was heating equipment for Marijuana growing and investigated. It turns out it was heating equipment for the guy's pets.

this started a conversation with me and some people that if this was done in the US (idk how laws are in UK). If an aerial heat censor picked up something like that, where someone has a particular part of his house heated. Is that probable cause enough for them to get a search warrant?

I say no, but some of my friends say yes.

anyone a Police officer, lawyer, or Judge that would know this?
