car rental New York to Chicago prices?

i'm moving some stuff out to chicago in a few weks by car and flying back.

Roughly how much would it be to rent a car from the New York area, drive it out to Chicago and return it at a location there? I'm just trying to get estimate on prices right now and all these rental websites are confusing me.

any help would be great.

i'm only moving a bunch of books, clothes, and things. i dont need a large car but it is too much to carry on to a plane, and i dont want to mail it out.

    You can try booking http://www.pointcarhire.com/ as they offer variety of cars at cheaper rates. You can book and look out for discounts here only. They offer good cars with great mileage so it would be helpful in your case.
