  • sbc valve measurement help?

When I measure the change in my valve spring height from closed to open it says it's much less than the cam advertised lift, I am using a digital caliper and measuring from the top edge of the spring to the seat at both heights. What could cause this, or am I just doing it wrong?

The cam is in good shape, no flat lobes it measured correct when installed. All of the springs are measuring like this, could it be my pushrods or rocker arms??

    Thanks in advance

  • 2.2l ecotec compatible with 2.4l tranny?

I have a 2006 Malibu with the 2.2l ecoTec I4 engine and I'm having some transmission slips so I was wondering if I could replace it with a transmission from a 2.4l eco Tec with 6 speeds, like the equinox tranny that also has overdrive. This should get me better gas mileage too right, I have a 45 minute, one way, highway drive to work. Thanks

  • how much transmission fluid do I need?

I have a 700-r4 from a 1986 chevy diesel truck, autozone's site says that it takes 11.5 quarts to refill that, but What about the torque converter, I bought a different one to raise my stall speed from 1300ish to 2000 but I don't know where to find how much fluid needs to go in it.

also how much horsepower/torque do you figure this kind of transmission can hold up to in stock form +new converter?

  • what brand is my timing chain?

I took my timing cover off and my engine has a double roller timing chain, the only number on it is "5266" but the 6s also look like 8s I has searched every combination 5266 5268 5286 5288 but found nothing. There is also a capital T between two of the cam bolts if that helps. Thanks

  • Camaro dies when I even touch the gas?

  • 1984 camaro turn signal/ parking lamp?

My front passenger side turn signal is missing, has been since I bought the car, but I cannot seem to find a replacement anywhere online. It is not the longer clear rectangular ones that are on the later models, but rather amber and more squared. If anyone knows where I can get one that'd be awesome.

  • L48 cast or forged crank?

I have a 1969 block casting number 3956618 suffix code is T0923CNJ, original heads were 3927186, now vortec, would this block more likely have come with a cast or forged crankshaft from the factory? I just put a new oil pan gasket on and forgot to check the number on the crank while I had it off, and I really don't want to pull it back off just to check one number, the output of this engine isn't really "forged" necessary, but it may be in the future. So I would like to know if maybe most came with forged or if only 10 came with them. Thank you.

  • 700r4 identification help?

I have what I believe is a 700r4, it has the physical appearance of a 700r4, but the ID code on it reads 5VK124C, and the Haynes manual for automatic transmissions lists VK as a TH350c, the transmission has the 700r4 tailhousing and I don't see a vacuum port on it. Is it possible that this is just a code Haynes missed or what? Thanks in advance.

  • Cam you use a th350 torque converter on a 700r4?

I have a diesel 700r4 I'm putting in my camaro, I want a new torque converter for it and the price difference between a 700 & 350 if like $60, but they are both 30 spline versions. Could I use the th350 converter? Also the 700 has lockup but I have no way to run it, would using the th350 converter get rid of the lockup if I can use it?

I have a set of 1999 vortec 906 castings and I need new spark plugs as the heads did not come with any from the junk yard. I just need to know how much reach I need as the shorty plugs I had in my 186 heads aren't long enough to actually enter to combustion chamber.
