Camaro dies when I even touch the gas?

Just got my 350 to fire up after rebuilding/upgrading the top end vortec heads performer rpm intake 268 comp cams cam. It idled and started fine but it died as soon as I pressed the gas even a little. What could cause this?

Update:

The carb is an edelbrock 600 com no choke, not sure on the jets in it it was setup up like this in a 68 nova I bought the engine out of, also not the original car. I think it may be some sort of timing issue Because it's not like it's not getting enough gas or too much the engine just cuts off and stops running the moment I put any pressure on the throttle, it was idling fast so I adjusted the screws but if the throttle moves it dies immediately no sputter or bogging just death...

Might need to upgrade the fuel pump, by putting the better vortec heads and getting a cam your getting more air obviously so maybe the fuel pump cant keep up with the needs of the engine

Just thinking out loud but do you think that maybe your acceleration pump is not working? Look down the throat of the carb and you should see fuel squirt into it every time you move the butterfly even the tiniest amount. You also said there is no choke on the carb. Have you waited for it to warm up. There is a vacuum port on the front of the carb that usually is used for the PCV. If it is not connected, it should be blocked off with a piece of tape. One thing to keep in mind is that when the carb is at idle, the only jets that are working are the idle jets. As soon as you open the butterfly you change the vacuum. Make sure your float bowl is filling completely. It will require that you take the top off the carb.

First off - check the timing - you may be off, or lazy on the timing curve. Also, you didn't mention what your carb/intake combo is, or whether you did any work to change the jetting on the carb to compensate for the additional flow. You might be going dead lean. If it were my car (and I am dealing with a similar issue on a 350 in an 80 Z28), I'd suspect the carb; either you don't have proper idle settings on that carb, or you have a transition that's dumping too much/too little fuel on tip-in.

Sound like ur timing is really off... check that out first u might have 180 degrees off top dead center... other thing is a bad vacumm leak or carb needs to be adjusted

maybe its flooding. Too much gas and it wont run. Altho eventually it wont even start til it sits awhile.
