  • Do Texans have to take state-mandated tests on state government?

My Gov teacher just mentioned that Texan students are tested on state government. I'm having trouble finding a source to verify this online. Does anyone know if it's true or not?

  • Summer Physics Class in Minnesota or online?

I am currently a high school junior and I live in the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities. I have taken honors and AP classes throughout high school. I am in honors precalc right now and will start AP chem next semester. I won't be able to fit Physics into my schedule, but all of the colleges that I am considering "recommend" taking it. Do you know of a good program around this area or a way to take it online? Which one would you recommend? Thanks!

  • Head and neck shakes multiple times per day?

Over the past year I have been getting this weird sensation and it feels like it comes from a spot near where my head connects to my neck. My head will shake uncontrollably and kind of violently for about 5 seconds. I know that it's normal for people to get a little shiver up the spine every once in a while, but this feels a little bit different. It didn't happen much at first but it's happening about 4-10 times per day now. It doesn't hurt at all so I'm not really concerned, but I'm curious if there is a reason why this is happening. It is a little bit distracting in class but not to the point where I think I need medical help or anything like that. I'm a 16 year old girl and I don't really drink or smoke anything, I get a fairly good amount of exercise (although it's been less lately) and I eat right. I do spend a lot of time on the computer because of my job and schoolwork, so maybe that has something to do with it. Any thoughts?

  • trig application problem?

I need help writing an equation to model a sine wave on a graph. If you could explain how to get the equation, that would be great. I have a quiz coming up and I need to learn how to put these together.

Assume that a satellite launched from Cape Canaveral eventually has an orbit of 2 hours. It reaches 5600 km, its farthest point north of the equator, 45 minutes after the launch and begins its orbit. One hour later, it is 5600 km south of the equator, its farthest point south.

    Thanks!

  • what places should i visit in washington dc?

I am going to Washington D.C. for spring break with my family and they asked me to plan out a few places that I would like to see. I love history and want to go into law someday, so this is going to be a really exciting trip for me. I think we will only be there for about 5 days, but just point out some of the main sights that I should look at, so I can start planning the trip. Thanks!

  • help with holocaust paper due tomorrow please!?

I have this report due tomorrow and I've really been behind on it becuase I haven't been able to find a lot of information on my topic- the Aryan race. It is for the Holocaust unit in 8th grade honors english and I really have no idea what I'm doing. I need 4 different sources cited in each paragraph with a total of at least 7 sources. There needs to be an intro, 4 body paragraphs, and a conclusion. It needs to be 4 pages long. This is what I have so far. Can anyone help me add a little to it or anything? I really need help. Thanks!

“If the breed was everything and the individual was nothing, then human life was ultimately worthless” (Stewart, Racism in the Third Reich). In Hitler’s perfect world, a master race that he called Aryan would rule, while lowly other races would become extinct through cruel processes.

Although Hitler’s ideal “Aryan race” did not actually exist, there is a long history of how this fictional race came to be. Starting in ancient times, the word “Aryan” seems to trace back to a linguistic group in the Indian Peninsula. It loosely translates to “noble”. Hitler’s propaganda suggested that Aryans were light-skinned, blonde-haired, blue-eyed, and tall. That is not logical because the ancient people who spoke Indo-Aryan languages lived in an area where dark eyes, hair, and skin were most commonly seen. However, when the Nazis came to power, many Germans fitting the former description were led to believe that they were superior because of their looks.

Although the main target of the Aryan myth was to make “Aryan” people feel superior, this myth was also meant to help convince people that “non-Aryans” were to be destroyed. Who exactly were these “non-Aryans”? Hitler and his followers believed that people who would contaminate the Aryan race should be exterminated or sterilized so they could not bring imperfections to their descendants.

Many experiments were led to determine how to make this “master race” the most dominant race in the world. Dr. Josef Mengele was a leader in these experiments, and used thousands of people in hopes of finding a way to perfect the Aryan race.

The myth of an Aryan race affected path of the Holocaust in many ways. Many people made choices they might not have made before they had been told that they needed to protect their “master race”. Without the idea of a race to protect, it would have been difficult to convince people to destroy an entire race.

Even though the debates still occur to this day about the definition of an Aryan, there is no doubt that it played a role in the Holocaust.

  • do you think that dance is a sport?

my guy friend is being kind of mean n keeps saying that dance isnt a sport (cuz hes mr big shot hockey player) anyway i know that it is because we compete in the high school league just like any other sport and we have practices almost every day and even weight train and run miles and stuff, plus it takes a lot of muscle and energy to kick legs up to ur nose for 3 minutes straight and practice that for hours in a row and it takes a ton of skill to be able to do turns and leaps etc so i dont get how it isnt a sport

  • edit my pangaea essay please?

ok now this is an 8th grade level so dont expect much but i was wondering if someone could help add more details or correct me if i am wrong about any of this because i dont know much about it. especially how sea-floor spreading has anything to do with this at all. but my book says it does so i guess its right. i put blanks in some spots where i really have no idea what to write so if you have any ideas on those parts that would be nice to know too. thanks!

    The Pangaea Theory

The theory of Pangaea, first introduced by Alfred Wegner in the early 1900’s, explores the concepts of plate tectonics and continental drift. While the theory is still being altered as we find more evidence, scientists have already found many reasons to believe in this ancient super-continent.

One major piece of evidence is the continents and, more importantly, their continental plates, fit together almost perfectly. The fit between eastern coast of South America and the western coast of Africa is the most obvious fit.

Another connection is the northwestern side of Africa and the southeastern gap in North America.

Another piece of evidence is that the Indian subcontinent and Asia are joined together by the Himalaya Mountains. Scientists believe this happened when India crashed upward into Asia, forcing the land to form mountains.

A third piece of evidence is that similar rock types were found on coasts of separate continents. __________

The fourth piece of evidence is that the same species of animal fossils were found on separate continents. Many of these animals could not swim long distances across the ocean, and the possibility of numerous land bridges that suddenly vanished is unlikely. Therefore the animals must have traveled across the land when it was still a super-continent to have remained there when the continents shifted.

Another piece of evidence is how the same species of plant fossils are present on several continents. __________

A sixth idea that assists in explaining Pangaea is sea-floor spreading. __________________________

The final piece of evidence is that glacial deposits from the glacier that once covered Antarctica also can be found on the continents that were believed to have surrounded it.

  • is there still a glacier on antarctica?

im writing an essay on pangaea and one of the pieces of evidence i am using is that there was a glacier on antarctica and it covered parts of the other continents that were around it and then the glacial deposits or something are still there. well thats what i think but im not quite sure about that. anyways is that glacier still there from like 245 million years ago or is all that is left the glacial deposits
