what can you tell me about the "aryans"?

i am writing a 3 page paper on them and i didn't realize that they don't actually exist until i had already chosen them as my topic. my paper is based on the role of the aryan myth in the Holocaust, but i'm confused because there are some places saying they never existed and some places saying that they were people who spoke the same types of languages in ancient times. i don't know much about this whole thing but i really really need to get my paper done so if you can please help me out that would be great. thanks a ton!

THE WORD ARYAN HAS ITS ORIGIN IN SANSKRIT, MAX MÜLLER TOOK THE WORD FROM THE VEDAS, THE AUTHORS OF THE VEDAS CALLED THEMSELVES "ARYA" WHICH MEANS "NOBLE". THEY LIVE IN THE AREA WHICH MAKES TODAYS INDIA, IRAN,AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN. THEY WERE NO BARBARIANS AS THE WESTERN "WHITE ARYANS" SAY... SEE ALL THOSE CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE ARYANS AND THEIR SUCCESSORS IN SCIENCE, PHILOSOPHY, ASTRONOMY, MEDICINE ETC... CAN THAT BE FROM BARBARIANS???

THERE ARE STILL NO PROOFS FOR ALL THOSE "ARYAN THEORIES" OF THE WEST...

WE SHOULD STOP MISUSING AND INSULTING THE NAME OF THE ANCESTORS OF THOSE NATION.

to ARYAN-DRAVIDIAN theory which the british used during the colonial era:

Recent studies of the distribution of alleles on the Y chromosome microsatellite DNA, and mitochondrial DNA in India have cast overwhelmingly strong doubt for a biological Dravidian "race" distinct from non-Dravidians in the Indian subcontinent. The only distinct ethnic groups present in South Asia, according to genetic analysis, are the Balochi, Brahui, Burusho, Hazara, Kalash, Pathan and Sindhi peoples, the vast majority of whom are found in today's Pakistan.

WHO SAID THAT THE ARYANS WERE WHITE-BLOND-BLUE EYED?

THATS WHAT HITLER SAID WITHOUT ANY PROOFS AND WE BELIVE IT LIKE IDIOTS!

HE EVEN TOO THE SWASTIKA FROM INDIA,HINDUISM!

Aryans were a group who migrated from the Middle East to India around 1500-1000 BC, the dates off the top of my head and I suck with dates, so you may want to check it. It's believed they mixed with the indigenous Dravidian people and formed the current Hindu culture.

That migration is why there's a two major language groups in India, Indo-Aryan and Dravidian. Northern Indian languages like Bengali, Punjabi and Gujarati are linked to each other, but are very different to southern Indian languages like Tamil and Malayalam. European languages are also linked to northern Indian dialects, in a group called Indo-European languages, that's about the only real link with the Aryans and Europe.

So really, if you want to see an Aryan you look at Iranians, Pakistanis or northern Indians. They're dark eyed, dark haired and fairly dark skinned. Not exactly what Hitler had in mind when he talked about Aryans. If you're worried about using the term in a paper my suggestion would be to put it in inverted commas, as an acknowledgment that it's an inaccurate term in reality but was the term used at the time. It's the approach I take when using outdated terms and concepts.
