do you think that dance is a sport?

my guy friend is being kind of mean n keeps saying that dance isnt a sport (cuz hes mr big shot hockey player) anyway i know that it is because we compete in the high school league just like any other sport and we have practices almost every day and even weight train and run miles and stuff, plus it takes a lot of muscle and energy to kick legs up to ur nose for 3 minutes straight and practice that for hours in a row and it takes a ton of skill to be able to do turns and leaps etc so i dont get how it isnt a sport

Update:

i actually think its both an art and a sport. there was some famous person i forgot who it was but she said it takes an athlete to be a dancer but an artist to dance

Dance is a sport, because you exercise. Most dances are good for your cardiovascular system like ballroom and tap dancing. Others are good for stretching and strength like ballerina and break-dancing.

it most definantly is a sport. i think it takes a lot more skill, time, flexibility and work to be a dancer than it is to be a hockey player! no offense to your friend :)

dont take any notice of what people say about it not being a sport because this guy friend of your is just kinda trying to i dunno make him look at lot bigger than you.

    hope this helps

    :)

    btw that quote is amazing!
