  • Advertised price is for both box spring and mattress?

    So I am a little confused on the descriptions online for mattresses. The advertised prices on say target, sears, etc....do they include just the mattress or both mattress and box spring. I don't see any box springs being sold separately so am I right assuming they sell these as a set?

  • Measurement error in checking parts?

    Say you need to check part thickness in a brake rotor. You will have to check 40-50 of these rotors. If I was already using a 0-6" micrometer and swtiched to a 0-1" micrometer, do you think that the measurement accuracy would increase. Keep in mind these rotors are about .8" thick.

    Can you guys think of anything that could go wrong using a 0-6" micrometer to measure a part that is only .8 inches thick?

    Would the measurement variation be better using a smaller range micrometer?

    I need some help with excel. I am trying to find the function where if I add a new data set into excel, it will auto calculate with the formula already provided.

    So for example

    Jan Feb Mar

    12 13 11

    3 4 6

    7.5 8.5 8.5 average

    So I want to be able to add the rest of the months, input the numbers and have excel auto calculate the averages with me even touching anything.

  • brembo caliper paint method?

    I am in the process of getting my brembo sti calipers repainted. I do NOT want to powdercoat it. This is because the brembo gold color probably cant be color matched very easily.

    So this is what I am thinking of doing and I want to see what other people think. Especially people who have race experience with brakes.

    I want to strip down the paint first of course. Then prep it for paint. I want to first spray the calipers with a few coats of some kind of high temp paint. Maybe some kind of header or exhaust heat resistant paint. Then spray an automotive paint over it and then clear coat it.

    Do you guys think the base heat resistant paint will protect that automotive paint? Most heat resistant paint is ceramic based. And does anyone brembo's method and process when painting thier brakes. What materials do they use?

  • Modulus of elasticity and toughness of 6061-T6 aluminum?

    I have been looking at every website possible for the numbers on 6061-T6 aluminum.

    I am needing the modulus of elasticity and toughness numbers at temperatures, 100, 150, 205, 260, 315, 370 degrees celcius. Also is there a way to get those numbers through an equation using other property numbers.

    A 2.500 inch thick 7050-T7651 Aluiminum alloy is being evaluated for use as a pressure vessel. Analysis has determined that the max flaw size present in this material is 0.10 inches. What is the maximum stress that this material can withstand before a flaw would grow? Do not apply a factor of safety to calculation and use a worst case scenario.

    Does anyone know how to do this or the formula for max allowable stress of a pressure vessel.

  • DOE-Is the coasting speed of a bicycle related to tire pressure?

    I am in Design of Experiments class and our assignment is to design a exp to see if the coasting speed of a bicycle is related to tire pressure. We need to test with different tire pressures and find the time over distance. Obviously there is a relation....but we need to set up a correlation coefficient for it. In the write up, we have to be able to guard the validity of the experiment and test the reliability of the experiment. And we also need to set up a scatter plot of the data.

    Can someone tell me how to set this experiement up and what do I do with the results? The teacher I have is not very clear.

    If I wanted to design an experiement that tested 2 different fishing poles, and wanted to see which one cast the furthest, how would I design it so all the errors were minimized or eliminated?

    Here is what I came up with so far...

    to do the exp where there are no wind conditions

    to cast onto a surface where it will not bounce

    to automate some kind of arm to take out the human element

    what others are there? How could I come up with a randomized order? And how do I verify the response? And how do I design it so it can be reproduced?

    I painted my deck in two different sections and on two different day. I think the first day I didnt stir the stain enough and the second section of my deck is a different color. I tried removing the stain but only got some of it off. Can I get a darker stain to cover it? Or will it show through? Any suggestions?
