  • Fidelity Traders' Summit 2012?

I was just mailed an "exclusive" invitation to the Traders' Summit 2012 which is supposed to be an "invitation only event." Searching for this even online didn't bring anything very useful. I'm wondering whether everyone gets an invitation to this "invitation only" event and whether it is anything more than a marketing scheme. Thanks in advance.

  • Where can I get clothes similar to Pink Floyd apparel?

I really like Pink Floyd t-shirts and I have seen (although rarely) similar ones that are not attributed to any band. I like Pink Floyd, but I'm not crazy enough about them to have their logo over most of my clothes. Can anyone tell me where I can get similar clothes, online or physical store?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Newspaper or magazine with complex vocabulary?

I need to improve my vocabulary for the SAT and one good method of which I have heard is reading newspaper articles. My vocabulary is decent, but I can get stumped by words such as the following: didactic, verbose, bucolic, lugubrious, etc.

What newspaper or magazine would you recommend? Any subject is fine, but if it's science then it would be like hitting two bird with one stone.

    Thanks in advance!

  • I can't remember how this quote goes?

I remember reading a quote that I really liked, i don't remember the exact wording but it had a message along the line of: The boredom of intellectuals builds civilizations.

If anyone can tell me the exact wording I would be very grateful.

  • Radeon HD 4250 or X1650 pro?

I have both and I'm not sure which one to use. Please don't recommend to me a different card, I have these two and have no plans to go out and buy a new one, and yes, I do realize both cards are low end.

EQ: how does the GT 430 compare to the best of the last two?

  • Make up high school classes online?

I'm currently in 10th grade and would like to retake some classes I took this year. I did not fail these classes but I was lazy and got Cs which I would like to make up and I have the following question/concerns:

    1. Can I retake classes I didn't fail to get an A?

    2. If I were to retake these classes on my record/transcript would it show that I took the class and got a C and then retook it and got an A or would it just show an A on there?

If it makes a difference I live in California.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Photon collides with Electron?

I was working with a simulation where photons of an energy level and wavelength that you choose are shot through a gas and even when the photons were on the wrong energy level a couple still bounced off the gas, so my question is what happens when a photon of the wrong energy level collides with an electron? do they just bounce off? is there an exchange of E.V? Thanks in advance for all answers

  • Looking for a good electronics book?

Hello, I'm a high school student looking for a good beginner's book on electronics. I am looking for a book that is strong in theory and math, i care much more about the concepts and math behind it than putting it to use (though both are obviously important).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Evaporative equilibrium equation?

I have a question where I'm given the enthalpy of vaporization at a certain temperature. Then I'm asked how much heat would be required to vaporize 1.00 L of the given liquid at a certain temperature if it's density is given.

The values that i can't seem to find are the 2 vapor pressures. I think i have to use the density and some other values to find the vapor pressures so i can plug them into the equation

I haven' included any of the actual values because i don't need anyone to solve this for me, i just need to know how to attain a certain value.

Thank you in advance for your help

  • Friedrich Nietzsche compared to Dostoyevsky?

Recently I've been reading some of Dostoyevsky's work (I'm on Brothers Karamozov now) and i was look for some authors as intelligent (if not more) as Dostoyevsky when i came across Friedrich Nietzsche. How is his work compared to Dostoyevsky's? I'm not looking for personal opinions on the authors' ideas, just the quality and the intelligence of their work.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Monty Hall problem question?

I've recently heard of the Monty Hall problem, and i have some concerns about it, of course i trust the geniuses who have spent the time to figure it out, but i'm not one to follow blindly until i get my concerns answered.

After you know door #3 does not have the car you are left with doors # 1 and 2, door #3 may as well not exist, but what if it didn't? what if you simply had to choose between two doors, that would be a 50/50% chance to get it right, well how is it different when there are 2 possible doors and one that may as well not exist compared to when there are only 2 possible doors to ever choose from, why does the first have a 2/3 chance for door #2 while the 2nd has a 1/2 chance for door #2 when both situations are almost identical (i say almost because i'm sure there is some math that explains how they are not the same).

    Thanks in advance.

  • Dostoevsky's belief in God?

Dostoevsky said: "If there is no God, everything is permitted." Also in Notes from Underground the character doesn't believe in free will but believes that if people realize that there is no free will and can even calculate it then people will see life as bland and perhaps not worth living, their desires to live in excitement or to try at all will be gone.

So did Dostoevsky really believe in God and free will or did he just believe that it is best that society believes in them?

  • Limits of what infinity can produce.?

    I've been wondering:

given that with infinite amount of time everything that could possibly happen in our universe and within the laws of physics will happen an infinite amount of time, if you leave a monkey in an empty space for infinity without a typewriter would it eventually type up Shakespeare. meaning, given an infinite amount of time can something like a typewriter come into existence from virtually nothing/ nothing. there is no real right answer as far as i am aware, i just want to hear your opinions and your logic behind them.

  • Looking for a new rock band?

as the title says i'm looking for a new good rock band, it can be from pretty much any sub genre of rock (except for Deathmetal and Screamo) and i would really prefer the songs have meanings much like the songs of Tool, System of a Down, and arguably Nirvana, do. thnx

  • Free will is an illusion?

this question is not for christians, so if you are christian don't bother answering.

i don't see why everyone doesn't see this, there are some people who believe it, but why is it such a rare belief? is it because it's so unappealing to people?

think about the first event to ever happen in existence, w/e that event is, if it were to happen an infinite amount of times under the same conditions, every single time it would to you sitting where you are reading this right now, any change in that event would produce a different chain of reactions, but it would all be predetermined by that one event.

every thought you think, every action you make, everything thath is happening right now is governed by all the events to ever happen and the ones happening right now, it is an extremely complex web of action-reaction.

  • is purpose an illusion (filler)?

i just don't see meaning in anything anymore, as in i don't see anything that makes life meaningful/purposeful, even if there was a perfect god out there that loved me and watched over me, i still wouldn't see the meaning/purpose in life or in anything i ever do, why does anything ever matter? is the purpose of a life an illusion? is it just there so we will continue our pattern of self benefiting acts and reproduction as nature intended?

  • how could everything be an illusion if?

many times have i heard the hypothesis that everything is an illusion and there is no physical world, just what we see in our minds. then what about the physical factors effecting you like the chair you are sitting in right now, you can trick the mind with drugs and other methods to think certain things but even when you bbelievein them they can't physically effects you, which would mean the physical world does infact exist
