is purpose an illusion (filler)?

i just don't see meaning in anything anymore, as in i don't see anything that makes life meaningful/purposeful, even if there was a perfect god out there that loved me and watched over me, i still wouldn't see the meaning/purpose in life or in anything i ever do, why does anything ever matter? is the purpose of a life an illusion? is it just there so we will continue our pattern of self benefiting acts and reproduction as nature intended?

We serve the ends of life. It is life that gives us existence. Life only seeks to grow, expand and survive. We are a facet of life and as such we obey the demands of life. We live so that life may thrive, expand and grow. As a thinking, conscious extension of life, we may be destined to carry the seeds of life throughout the entirety of the Universe because wherever we go, we take many variations of life with us. It is necessary that we do, so that we may live. Through us, life can grow and flourish on other worlds, beneath other suns. It is our mission, our destiny because life demands it of us. That is not to say that life is sentient, it isn’t. Rather, it is a ruthless, pitiless thing that has no emotion, instead, it hungers. Always, it is spreading outward, consuming voraciously. Layer upon layers of life feeding on life. Man lives atop this carrion mound and he is destined to one day crumble into it. But until then, he struggles for life, to be, that he may become. All for the sake of life.

What gives life purpose? That's an interesting question. Everything has purpose. Even inanimate objects have purpose but unlike a rock we actually get to "experience" purpose through our consciouness. Does that make sense?

No purpose is not an illusion. Let me say that another way. Purpose is no more an illusion than anything else we experience. As human beings we tend to confuse the value of the ability to experience with the experience itself. In other words, a person who rides a roller coaster and doesn't enjoy it can either blame the ride or themselves. See what I'm saying? Just because you may not have had any experiences that have "wowed" you it doesn't mean that there isn't any value in being able to experience. Understand?

All this is to say that the purpose of life (existence) is to experience and the meaning you derive from life depends on the experiences that you choose. You can enrich your life by constantly trying new things and seeking new experiences. Learn as much as you can about yourself, the world, and the people in it and your purpose (experiencing) will have meaning.

I'm an atheist married to a devout Christian and my husband was the one who turned me on to Y!A. He said that it would help me find answers and that I could connect with people who were searching for truth just like me. At first I thought it was kind of ridicules and now I find I'm addicted just like many of the other people on here. Keep asking questions and your imagination will help you find all the answers you are looking for.

    Good luck!
