I've been hired by a mall in Texas as a security guard as of May 28th. I took my drug test the same day. The official job offer contract stated I'd start before or on June 6th. They told me after the drug test that they'd call me back for the next steps. It's June 6th now and I haven't heard back at all. I've called 3 times now and each time I call, the hiring manager isn't there.

I heard it takes some time for a back ground check to get done on security guards but surely it shouldn't take this long, especially when we're passing the date of start on the contract!

What could be going on? Should I call back again? What would you do in a situation like this?

So I know that if you're graduating from a recognized Texas high school, in the top 25%, with a CR+M SAT of 1300, and take up the recommended course work, you're automatically admitted. But, is this just admission into the general university or does it get you into a particular college such as Mays Business?

Also, what if you're just shy of top 25% by like 3%, but you still meet or go slightly above the 1300/1600 SAT score? Is there any chance of getting in and into Mays?

Hello, I'm a Junior in a recognized public Texas high school. My GPA is currently about a 3.4 on a 5 POINT scale. This puts me in about the top 35% of my class. But, after some gauging, I'm probably going to make a 2000 on the SAT, if not more. Also, I've taken a lot of PreAP and a couple AP classes so far. Got a passing score on one of the [two] AP tests (3). The first time I ever touched a full practice SAT without any prior experience/practice, I was able to get a 1780. I don't have too much extracurricular activities at the moment besides some community service and my involvement in the DECA club/competitions at our school.

I'm hoping to bring my GPA up to a 3.8 by the time I send my app. What are my chances of getting into A&M, particularly the Mays Business school? Also, I'm almost certain I can get into the Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston Main Campus, and if you think I can, what are my chances of getting scholarships there?

This is a 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ with about 35,000 miles. The car hasn't had any problems (at least not dramatic) in the past. It starts just fine except its battery has failed more than I've wanted it to requiring us to jump start it a lot. Ever since I don't know when this has been happening... when the car is in the ON position (without it being started), you start to hear this LOUD, strange chirping / grinding noise coming from the rear of the car. It only happens the first time you put it on ON until you turn it off and it only happens when the car is on the ON position before cranking the car to start it. I don't think this has ever happened with the car started. If it has, I must have not heard it but this seems hard to miss.

I'm 14, and my Dad questioned cosmologists and physicists on their explanation for what light really is and he said that if light is an energy, how come it gets pulled into a Black Hole? He says that only matter is affected by gravity. And if light is made up of matter, why won't it destroy anything it goes through? I need a layman terms explanation and a complex explanation. I am 13 and when I get older I want to work in the computer security field, web based programming, and simple programs/apps.

What do you recommend learning (languages etc.). Oh and if you are a programmer yourself, please say so. Plus, what is a good market to be in (Web based programming, etc.)

If your taping an electrical transformer and it explodes, why does everything turn dark for a split second? Does the same happen to humans?

I remember watching a SHOW about 10 years ago on Nickalodeon (I forgot what its called). I know its NOT Afraid of the Dark but its like a reality show where there are a bunch of kids that have to solve murders. I think there was a host and I only remember fragments of the show. In one episode a group of kids were digging through a tub full of mud or meat or something until they found a clue of some sort. I really would appreciate it if you know the name of the show! And I am SURE it is not "Afraid of the Dark". I watched it like in 1999-2001. THANKS!!!
