So my question is... what do I ask for when I go to the salon? Dumb question right? But I have been going to my best friends salon for years now. She already knows what I want and how I want it so I have never had to communicate it to someone. I recently moved to another state and can't get in to see her. Now that I have switched to blonde the regrowth is killing me. I have been looking at salons in my area and their hair services, and I am wondering what I would need to tell them I need to go from what I have now to either of the two pictures I posted?

The two things I was focused on was all over color, and then highlights OR just all over highlights? I have an inch of regrowth, would I need to do all over color to get a base and fill in my roots then highlights/lowlights or could I just do only all over highlights in lighter and darker tones? Would all over highlights cover my roots? I seriously have no idea what to communicate to the people what I want BEFORE I even set up an appointment with them. I want to know prices from them but can't get them until I know exactly what I need. HELP! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

A have a 3-4 year old black Pug named Zombie. He was a stray and we adopted him a year ago so we don't know exact age. I love my dog, he's so smart and usually very very good. The only problem I've had/am still having his he's HORRIBLE with food and very jealous. My husband is deployed and I've been staying back in my hometown with family. They also have two Pugs of their own in the house I've been staying in, and Zombie gets very jealous if I even pet one of the others. He'll ram them with his chest or bite at their access skin. I have no clue how to get him to calm his butt down!

My major issue though is the food. I know Pugs in general love their food! I have had him on a strict timed feeding schedule sense I adopted him which worked great. He did love his treats still but after a few times of ignoring him when he begged he stopped doing it. Problem is my mom and other family members don't share these same views. They feed their Pugs 24/7 whenever they want it. If there's a plate on the ground of course Zombie goes for it and eats all of it before the other pugs can get in a bite, when I let him out in the morning the first thing he does is books it into the Kitchen to see if someone left something on the floor. They feed him straight from their plates when I'm not around so he's become very aggressive when it comes to begging. Running circles around you when you're in the kitchen and barking if you don't give him any. He freaks out if he hears something that sounds like a treat bag opening and darts to the kitchen if he hears the pantry door open. This is starting to get VERY annoying. Like I said, I love my dog very much but I've tried to correct this habit (as well as jealousy issues) and nothing is working! Is this just a Pug thing and I have to deal or does anyone have any tips I can use to get him to realize food isn't the sun the world revolves around? We've only been here 3 months and I can already tell he's gaining weight. If he had it his way the rest of us would all starve and he'd eat and eat and eat until he gets really sick or worse. I'm frustrated, usually it doesn't take me this long to get a dog to show some "manners" so I'm starting to think there's nothing that I can do.

Any tips??? I mean other than sending my family to obedience training.

I'm pretty new to Photography, I'm teaching myself as I go. This question has probably be asked before but I couldn't find it.

My friend let me borrow her two little girls to test out my new Nikon D90. Wow was that a learning experience! :) There was no real expectations it was more just for fun and learning, but I still want to get this whole process right. I'd like to give her some really cute photos.

I have been playing around with Lightroom 2 for a long time. My husbands father took our wedding photos with his professional DSLR and said I could go to town editing them myself. Only problem is I edited them in LR as JPEG's. Big mistake I lost a lot of information... as I would export, delete from LR, then decide I still wasn't happy and upload the ones I exported back in... and on and on. DUMB... The compression over and over kinda stunk. Of course I didn't learn this until I started purchasing and studying digital photography books. The prints still turned out "okay" but not as good as they could have. I'll never use JPEG for anything but emailing or using them online from this point on.

From that lesson, I shot all of my photos in RAW file format + JPEG for preview in LCD purposes only. SO.... my question is, is it better to convert the RAW files in ViewNX to 18-Bit Tiff and then take them into LR? Or take the RAW files right into LR and start processing? I'm looking for other peoples preferences. I've read in some photography forums that converting RAW from LR can create noisier images than converting in the software provided by Nikon such as ViewNX so that's why I was wondering. What are the pro's and con's of each and why do you like to do it the way you do? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I can't seem to find anything interesting to do in the Kansas area... We'd even go to Kansas City if we could find something we liked. I don't think Worlds of Fun or Oceans of Fun is really for us. We're not really museum or theatre people either. We love beautiful places, fun places to eat, we love anything with humor... and normally would love a good theme park but not for this particular occasion. We don't want to do something we could do (or would think to do) any old weekend.

Can anyone help us out with ideas? Thanks so much.

I live in a small one bedroom apartment. About two months ago the fire alarm in my bedroom just started randomly going off. I was just sitting in the living room reading, there was no smoke anywhere. I called the Maintenance guys and they came to look at it. They said it was a "low battery problem" and replaced it. Well this morning the same fire detector in my bedroom did the same thing!!! I was sitting in the living room watching TV early this afternoon when it just started going off for no reason! I again called maintenance and they came over and said "battery problem" I told them how it had happened before and how I thought it was a wiring problem. They tried a new detector and it did the exact same thing. So they took it completely out of the ceiling and told me they would be back tomorrow to check the wiring. So I have no detector in my bedroom right now. About 10 tonight the OTHER detector in the hallway started making a weird buzzing noise and then beeping once, I took the battery out and it's still doing it!!! It's connected to the ceiling still but I mean with no battery??? I mean, it sounds like the buzzing you hear next to a power line, like it's charging up for a big beep. That def. sounds like wiring to me! But there's no way I can sleep with that thing! Maintenance is gone and cannot be reached. Is there someone else I should call about this or can I unplug it from the ceiling??? It used to be every 5 minutes and now it's getting shorter and shorter between periods it goes off. I'm sure the neighbors are loving us.

Let's just say... hypothetically... that you have a crazy husband, and he has an even crazier best friend. And they both decide one night to saturate a cigarette in Dave's Insanity hot sauce. They wait for the thing to dry out over the course of a week... should I let them try to smoke it? Hypothetically of course. Now you might say "who would do such a thing?" but these are also the men that helped found "selfnutpunch.com" and try to shove 12 inch subs down their throats until they puke. Real "Jackass" stuff. So would the be really hurt or just sick or would nothing happen?

I just got my hair professionally done. I had dark chocolate hair before I got it done and I wanted to go much much lighter for summer. For the all over color they used a level 40 developer on it because they know my hair pulls red and is hard as heck to get lighter. As painful as it was and as much as I love how much lighter it really did get my hair I still think it's kind of orange in some light. My stylist did lighter highlights all over and those turned out a beautiful blonde! Then darker lowlights underneath.

My question is... I love all the dimension in my highlights but I want to naturally lighten my hair while I'm out in the sun this summer. If I use a mixture of half lemon juice and half water on my dry hair while I'm outside tanning for about an hour a day will it take the brassier orange out of the all over color? And if I do this will it make my hair all one color or will you still be able to tell that I have highlights everywhere?

Any help is greatly appreciated! :) I'm ready to get out in the sun and lighter/less brassy hair without loosing my highlights would be an added plus!!!

I have a male pug who I just adopted last Saturday. He's about between one and two years old and has been neutered. You can still see two of the stitches. He's a very sweet boy and I love him to death but I have no idea what to do with him when it comes to potty training.

First of all we live three stories up and he is scared to death of the exposed stairs to go outside. I've been having to carry him up and down everyday. I've been working with him on it and now he can go up one flight of stairs with no problem before he freaks out.

The first couple days I had him it seemed like he would hold in his pee and poop forever and just go randomly inside. I would take him out for 30-45 minutes and walk him around and he'd do nothing. The moment we would head to bed he'd go everywhere. After a few days it seemed like we were making progress. I got him on a schedule where he would go out and do #2 outside right after he ate. But I have never seen him relieve his bladder outside once. It's like he'll hold it for 2 days before he finally explodes on the carpet somewhere. I don't understand why.

We don't know for sure how he was potty trained before we had him. We've tried puppy pads but he just sniffs them and walks away. We've tried spraying the puppy pad with a spray that's supposed to attract them to pee there and nothing. We've tried covering the pee pad with news papers but he'll just sit on them. He has no clue how to use them.

I just don't know what to do anymore. I wonder if it could be that he's so stressed out from going down those stairs he's so afraid of that he just doesn't want to go. I don't know why he would hold his pee so long... I mean we're talking 1 to 2 full days without going pee at all. When I take him out at least 6 times a day.

We were doing so well with the pooping outside but I took him out at 6, 7, 8, and 10 last night and he didn't go. He sleeps with us in bed so that if he has to go he wakes me up by letting out tiny barks and I take him out. He hasn't done that before 10 when I normally wake up before. Today at 8am I woke up to him already on the floor of my bedroom and he had peed and pooped everywhere. I just feel like I'm starting back at zero and I'm not sure what to do.

Okay we have a linksys router and only a MacBook Pro for our home. The software for our linksys is for PC only so we can't setup a password on our router (I don't know of any anyway).

The problem is we just moved into a new apartment complex and someone is stealing our internet hard core. It looks like they're playing movies or games online because the send and receive lights are going crazy all the time.

My husband and I started shutting off both our router and our modem whenever we aren't using it to peeve them off and maybe make them get their own but it obviously didn't work because today when I turned on my modem and router "linksys" wouldn't show up in my airport dropdown menu. THEN I realized that there was one showing up but it was PASSWORD PROTECTED!

At first I thought "there is no way someone else put a password on my own router because it would have had to be reset when they did it but if they did it when it was on the last time then I turned it off and turned it back on it could have done it right? I checked the back of the router and the security light (little lock looking thing) was lit up!!!! I'm so mad that someone would do this! I had to reset the router 3 times before that light went off and GO FIGURE all the sudden linksys was showing up in my airport as no password protected anymore.

My first question is how would someone even do that?! Second, how can I put as much security on my linksys rounter/internet in general so that this can't happen again using my MAC. I have no access to a PC so a way to us my MAC to do this is my only option. I'm just at my wits end and ready to go banging on everyones doors to find this person! So any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, I know there's a way to see if any other IP addresses are using my internet. But not sure what to look for. I go to my airport dropdown menu and hit "open network preferences", then under "airport" hit "advanced", then I go to TCP/IP and it shows me "IPv4 address" which is my address but I also see something under that that says "subnet mask" with some address in it then the Router address thing. Would any of these show me the other person's IP address or do I need to be looking somewhere different?

I have this really cool new 2.0 layout but all the text is white. I want to make SOME of the text black but it's not working! I've tried...

For example if I wrote in my About Me section "Hi, generic welcome. generic about me." I want the "Hi, generic welcome." part to stay white but have the "Generic about me." to be black.

Is there something happening where if you have a layout in the CSS box it wont let you change the font in your modules to something separate from the layout code?

I know basic HTML and I've noticed that even though it's CSS if you put HTML code into your "About Me" box it changes it to CSS once you've saved anyway... but just to double check I even tried to use

<span> or whatever but I'm not very good with CSS yet and I have no clue what I'm doing.

Is anyone else having this problem where the put a layout in their CSS box then they can't change the color/font/size of just SOME of their text?

If anyone knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it. 10 Points!

I'm 23, I graduated from High School at 17 in 2003 and I was a party kid in high school and I can't remember exactly what my GPA was when I graduated but it was probably around 2.0. I went to community college because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my life yet and ended up not taking it very seriously. I only went for a year and my GPA from there was even worse. I haven't furthered my education for what will be 5 years this May.

On that note, I am now far more mature and I know what I want to do with my life career wise. I am hoping to be able to get into Kansas State University this coming fall and I'm going to take the ACT's in February. I'm pretty sure I can get at least a 22 on them *knock on wood*. So my first question is does anyone think that my High School and Community College GPA's will keep me from being admitted into KSU even if I get a good score on my ACT's and have great recommendations? I've heard some people say that after so many years of being out of school if you can show them that you're serious about your education now that admissions will be more willing to look at your ACT scores and other factors.

Another question I have is that it states that Military members and families stationed in Kansas can get in-state tuition prices. My husband was active duty military for 4 years but has been out of the Army sense 2006 (still on Inactive ready reserve). I know that doesn't constitue the in-state tuition but he has been working for the military as a DOD (department of defense) civilian for 2 years now and he was offered a great job at Ft Riley (Still as a DOD civilian but technically still works for the military) - I don't know if what he does there would fall under that in-state tuition. Does anyone know how that would work?

This is a two part question actually.

I want to become a professional photographer. Yeah I know, you've all heard this a million times. I know a lot of the basics of photography through 6 years of professional modeling but I know it will take years of hard work to build my career. I've met a lot of great people in this business who not only specialize in high fashion/editorial work but weddings and regular portraiture as well. I have fallen in love with this line of work and I want to make sure I take the right steps to begin. I was planning on learning through a photographer I have worked with many times through modeling where I live now (most of the great photographers I've met never went to formal schools to learn photography), but my husband got a job offer in Kansas and sadly now we are moving.

So here's my dilemma... I am planning to go back to school this fall at Kansas State University, majoring in Business. I know they have a photography program but I'd rather learn through experience. I have a Nikon D80 and I'm working on getting lights, meters, reflectors, etc. at this time. I also work with Adobe Lr 2.0 at the moment and prefer it to Photoshop CS3 because of it's simplified layouts and tools.

So, my first question is obviously should I try to find professional photographers in my area to work under as a "photographers assistant" or is it wise to learn on my own through trial and error while I'm in school?

I want a business degree because I know there are things in this business that a photography assistant will not be taught such as how to run the business end of photography successfully and I want that knowledge. I don't want to know how to answer phones or carry equipment I want real training and help which I would have had here through the friends I've made but I'm afraid some photographers aren't that open to just spilling techniques to total strangers. So any advice?

My second question is I've been referred to a photography text book list and course outline that they use at a great (and highly overpriced), art and design school so you can learn on your own exactly what they teach but these books are your standard overpriced college textbooks and I'm looking for some cheap places online to get photography textbooks for cheaper (I don't care if they're slightly used). Anyone have any sites for me to check out? I've also heard of websites for college students that allow you to read college textbooks online but I haven't found one that has anything on photography. I guess that major isn't as important as "Liberal Arts" or something (sarcasm). If anyone knows of a site where they do this I'd love to know... and I'm not talking about illegal torrents, more like the sites that boycott the fact that the people who make textbooks charge you 10 times what they should for them because they know they can.

I'm looking for a lab online that offers high quality printing on (preferably) Kodak Professional ENDURA paper!

I live in a smaller town in Pennsylvania and I have a bunch of wedding photo's I am wanting to print out for Christmas. The photographer we used for our engagement pictures did our prints on Kodak Professional ENDURA paper and I love the look of it a lot better than the normal "glossy". I was going to order then through iPhoto but all they have is that glossy and honestly, the quality of the prints seemed "washed out" compared to what they look like on my MacBook Pro!

So what I'm looking for is a high quality lab online that I can upload the wedding photo's I've edited via Lightroom 2.0. A lab that will then make the prints for me and ship them to me. So does anyone here used a good lab that they liked or know of any good ones?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
