First Wedding Anniversary?

My husband and I will be celebrating our first wedding anniversary on the 8th of August (I know not that long to plan something), but we wanted to stick fairly close to home. I can't seem to find anything interesting to do in the Kansas area... We'd even go to Kansas City if we could find something we liked. I don't think Worlds of Fun or Oceans of Fun is really for us. We're not really museum or theatre people either. We love beautiful places, fun places to eat, we love anything with humor... and normally would love a good theme park but not for this particular occasion. We don't want to do something we could do (or would think to do) any old weekend.

Can anyone help us out with ideas? Thanks so much.

I recommend taking a short road trip. Just get in the car and drive, even if you have no destination in mind. Chances are, you will find interesting things to look at, and new places to eat along the way.

It is a fun adventure, where you have lots of time to talk and bond with one another!

Well, I live in Johnson County, KS, and there's tons of fun places to eat in the metro KC area, and tons of nice hotels as well. You can go stay out at the new Legends area (KCK, just off I-435), there's several hotels there. There's tons of shopping up there, lots of restaurants, etc. The Chateau Avalon hotel is interesting, I've not been there, but have friends who have and say it's very nice. Here's a link for you. http://www.chateauavalonhotel.com/index.htm
