How to remove dried paint from window?

I need to get dried latex paint off a textured window. I was spray painting and covered up the other window but didn't realize part of the second one was textured. The glass is unlike any I have seen before: it has a bubble-like surface that makes the glass translucent. A razor only got paint off the outward part of the 'bubbles', but how can I get it out from the tiny crevices in the glass? I only did one heavy spray, and most of what is on the special glass was overspray.

Will paint thinner or goof off work?

Update:

Thank you all for the responses. Just as I thought; mineral spirits, laquer thinner, turpentine, paint stripper...Thought about the steel wool too. The glass isn't anything special, it's on a small beat up office building from the 70's I painted the exterior wall for my dad. He doesn't care about the overspray on the glass, but I want to fix it because I think it looks weird.

  • I would use denatured alcohol solvent. I feel it eats through latex paint a lot quicker than mineral spirits will. I would recommend getting the top of a paper towel wet with the solvent so it sticks to the window. Then use a sponge to dampen the rest of the paper towel and allow it to remain clinging to the window for 10-20 minutes. This way you won't need to sit there and hold a towel against the window. Using a sponge or steel wool will work well to remove the paint after it has been loosened by the solvent. If you're lucky you might even be able to just wipe it off with a towel after the solvent has had time to work.

I would try turpentine. If that doesn't get it all off then you can try coating the glass with a friendly version of some paint stripper. Just be careful to only paint the glass.
