Can someone file criminal charges to retaliate?

I filed a complaint against a woman for telephone harassment. I sent the offender and her daughter 3 emails letting them know that I've done this. Her daughter emailed me and told me if I email her,she will have my son charged with sexual harassment for something he did back in March. She also said she will have me charged with harassment. My son was accused of calling her, spoofing her caller ID to annoy her and for sexual harassment because of some of the things he was accused of leaving on her voice mail,he left christian music, and something from madblast dot com that's called spank the monkey. It's a joke where someone spanks a little monkey then the mommy monkey picks him up and spanks him. She lives in California and we live in GA. Chris didn't defraud anyone. It seems to me the police said that Chris didn't create another offense and also would say she's doing this in retaliation for us filing a complaint for telephone harassment against her mom. It would cost California thousands to charge my son and wouldn't be worth charging him. Also, telephone harassment is alot worse then email harassment. Her mom would yell at me through the phone. What are the chances of Chris being charged and picked up and taken to CA? Could I be forced to go to CA for email harassment? Chris hasn't been charged yet and it's been for then a month? Did I make it worse for him?

I am no legal authority but I will say this:

    1) Don't aggravate the situation. Leave well enough alone. - Too often we try to be right and being right is not always in your best interest. For instance you are driving and someone is about to turn out of turn and you know you have the right of way. Do you speed up so that the person will not get to go? No that's dumb. When you are dead who has the right of way? Leave well enough alone.

    2) Don't entertain fear. - when you entertain fear the very thing that you fear will rule over you and most likely you will draw your fear to yourself. That is the story of all our lives. Learn to walk in faith.

Now the folks below such as the lawyer and the FBI person if they are what they say, Those are the ones who can handle the legal questions but I will tell you just stay cool and I will be praying for you anyway because your son needs to stay in line. I have boys of my own and I know it isn't always easy. All the best.

If the two parties live on different sides of the continent, why not act like adults and leave each other alone. Law enforcement have better things to do than take petty complaints over bickering children.

Grow up. Police file charges. People do not. She can do nothing.
