When did you get your son/s ears pierced?

More and more boys are getting their ears pierced younger and younger today. A recent question asked about getting young daughters ears pierced which prompts me to ask those who got their young son's ears pierced at what age they did it. Did he get one or both ears pierced? If only one ear, which ear? Did your son ask to have his ear(s) pierced or did you suggest it? What style earrings does your son wear? Does his father have his ear(s) pierced? I know some people are opposed to piercing boys ears and they are entitled to thier opinion. I am not asking for opinions, just factual answers concerning boys who have their ear(s) pierced or plan to get them soon, so please no critical opinions. Thank you.

My son was four years old when we had both his ears pierced. He was fascinated with earrings from the time he was a baby and wanted to wear them. I had shown him my piercing holes and explained that he would need to have his ears pierced if he wanted to wear earrings. Then he started asking to have his ears pierced, although he asked for "holes" rather than "pierced". His father does not have any piercings.

When my son was younger his favorite earrings were hoops. He also wore studs and later dangles. Many of his earrings are souvenirs of places he has visited. When he was 13 he and his girlfriend both got their second piercings. They now coordinate their earrings every day, so some days he wears earrings in his second holes that match what she is wearing in her first holes and vice versa.

I had my sons left ear pierced when he was a few days old, at the same time his twin sister had hers done, but afterwards I wished that I had pierced both his ears. As soon as their ears had healed I had her ears double pierced, and he had a second hole in his left ear, and also his right ear pierced for the first time. Obviously he was so young that it was my decision for him to have his ears pierced, and I think the younger a child is when they have their ears pierced, the better. Normally he wears a sleeper (small hoop) in his first hole in his left ear and small gold studs in the other holes (the studs he got pierced with). Apart from removing them to clean them, he wears earrings all the time. His father also has both his ears pierced - I made him get them done shortly after we met and he also wears his earrings constantly. Where we live a lot of boys have their ears pierced by the time they start school, and most of my friends have pierced their boys ears as well while they are babies/toddlers. I think that it is really cute for a little boy to have his ears pierced and it is actually quite unusual to see a boy that hasn't had at least one of his ears pierced by the time they are about 5 or 6 years old. If I had another boy I would definitely have both his ears pierced when he was newborn, but it is up to each individual parent, although I would encourage anyone to do it.

In reality, it's up to the parent or guardian's discretion. If you do allow your son to get his ears pierced, make sure it's his decision and not yours. While I don't condone boys younger than sixteen to get their ears pierced, it's your son's body - not mine. Guys have mainly two styles: small rings and studs, and when I say small, nothing bigger than a wedding ring. As to which ears, a present style is (if not both) to get the dominant handed ear pierced; in my case, that would be my right ear. And no, my father didn't allow me to have my ears pierced but it's my body. Hope this helps.

Both of my sons were 7 the time they got their ear peirced. they only had one pierced and i honestly cannot even remember which one it was. My oldest kept him for close to a year and then let it close and my youngest didn't even last a month, he hated the way it felt. I figured it was harmless and I tend to pick my battles very carefully. My husband did have his ear pierced at one time, but again, it didn't last long. They all wore diamond studs (not real diamonds).

...ask those who got their young son's ears pierced at what age they did it.

    - 6 months. His father took him and I didn't find out about it until they got back. I was pissed, but didn't take them out because A) He had already gone through the pain of having them done and B) I knew I could keep them clean and free on infections.

Did he get one or both ears pierced? If only one ear, which ear?

    - Both ears

Did your son ask to have his ear(s) pierced or did you suggest it?

    - He was 6 months old...his father wanted them to match.

What style earrings does your son wear?

    - .Small princess cut diamonds, white gold (studs)

Does his father have his ear(s) pierced?

    - Yes

My son hasn't had his ears pierced & doesn't want them pierced.

I don't know where you live but here in the USA where I live in the south not many boys will have their ears pierced at a young age. Can't even think of a young boy I know who has them pierced.

The same time I got my daughter's pierced, i.e. never.

Not my body to make unnecessary holes in.
