Persian cat de-mat?

I have a Persian puddy tat. But it is costing me a fortune at the vets. (110.00 pounds a go) To have a de-mat, we brush and comb daily but the fur in between his legs, especially the back legs keep matting (knotting) and is difficult to brush out, although he like being nursed, petted, and brushed, but he don't like being brushed there, an get annoyed.

Any body got a Persian, that we can pick brains. please.

Update:

Sorry just a Mancunian slang...Picking brains....swap ideas....thanks

long hair cats should be combed rather than brushed. It lifts out the lower guard hairs better where brushing only takes out the loose dead hairs up top. Combing daily will make a difference. Here are photos of type of cat combs to use http://images.google.com/images?hl=en&q=cat+comb&u...

Source(s): I have a Maine Coon I comb every day and she has no mats.
