I have worked in humane societies, pet shops, dog trainers, dog groomers, livestock and exotic animal auctions and with just about any animal you could think of. I have bred rodents, fish, horses, reptiles and owned all sorts of different criiters over the years. Mostly i rescue abandoned or unloved pets, take care of them for a bit, do all sorts of research on their care and then find them loving homes. I have always loved animals and done my best to learn as much as i can about them. If I don't know the answer I won't waste my time or yours.

  • my male and female betta aren't breeding or fighting?

My male and female betta will not breed but aren't fighting either?

what gives? I let her loose in his tank and they swim with each other or ignore each other but aren't fighting or showing signs of mating? any clue what they're doing? they stayed together for 8 hours yesterday and she let him chase her for a bit and then they just ignore each other.

They were both moved into a new tank that was cycled and conditioned. She has been in a glass cylinder in his tank for approximately a week now. They are not together 24/7 only for a few hours at a time and closely supervised then she goes back in her cylinder.

he has his styrofoam cup nest, he's made a huge nest and he has bred before so he's not "too young". Also the female is approximately a year old and egg bound so she's not "too young" either.

I am only attempting to get the female to lay her eggs, not breed them to make money or anything. More of a necessity than a money endeavor.

  • I slapped my husband and he beat me, walk away from 5 years or try to fix it?

we've been married five years, there is a 22yr age gap between us, we have one child, we argue quite a bit and it seems like thats all we do nowadays. We were arguing and he called me the "c" word. I have never thought that he would ever say that as he knows that is one word i do not tolerate. I slapped him (open handed in the face) and told him to just stop and go to work. After wards he proceeded to pin me down with a knee in my chest and slap the crap out of me for several minutes then told me it was because i hit him first. I have a blood blister on my eyelid if that tells you anything From a mans perspective is he justified or do i need to grow up and walk away? Every time i try to talk to him about it he just keeps telling me it was because i hit him. I love the old man and our daughter together but the prospect of spending the rest of my life getting called names and getting my *** kicked or feeling the need to strike out is not exactly pretty. Suggestions, advice?

  • my female bettas has mated with my male will not release her eggs?

I watched her and the male mate more than a half dozen times yesterday. She still has eggs! I've only seen about five in the nest. When will she release her eggs? Is it normal for her to hold them after mating? Should i leave them together for another day or separate them? I've even pulled her out and massaged her and she still wouldn't release any more eggs. ideas, suggestons?

  • neon tetra has odd lump and another has crooked spine?

About three weeks ago, one of my neon tetras developed a white bubbly cyst under his chin, he is eating, schooling and swimming fine. I do not suspect neon tetra disease as he should be dead by now. Last week another neon tetra in the school, developed a crooked spine, he too is eating, schooling and swimming fine. They will hide occasionally but always within an inch or two of the school. Water levels are normal, i have plenty of plants but i have no clue what could be causing this. I feed them flakes, could it be a vitamin deficiency? a disease? any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
