  • Do you prefer great aunt/uncle or grand aunt/uncle?

When referring to the siblings of your grandparents some say the technical term is grand aunt/grand uncle. The siblings of your great grandparents then being your great grand aunts/uncles. But to keep things simple I prefer using only great. Therefore grandparents siblings being great aunt/uncle great grandparents siblings being great great aunts/uncles. Which do you use?

  • Have you ever connected an ancestor to grandparent/grandparents but not sure of the parent?

I have come across this with one of my 3rd great grandparents. Through obituaries, vital records and probate records I know definitively who her paternal grandparents were but not exactly which of their sons in her father. I narrowed it down to either of two of the sons. Has anyone encountered this & if so how do you list it in your family tree?

  • Direct male line vs direct female line ancestry research?

Ok so we know researching the direct male line (father' father's father, etc) tends to be easier than direct female line (mother's mother's mother, etc) because of following the surname vs constant name changing in the maternal line. My question is to those who have been researching for awhile have you gotten much further back in the direct male line vs the direct female line? In my case its the opposite. I've only gotten to my great great grandfather in my direct male line vs my 7th great grandmother in my direct female line.

  • Do you know the names of all 8 of your great grandparents?

I'm curious for those both who have and have not researched your family history, do you know all of your great grandparents names? Before I started my genealogy research I only knew the names of 2 of my great grandparents and it bothered me. Now I know all 8 of their names.

  • How long can I wait to get new catalytic converter on 2000 Honda Civic?

I have a 2000 Honda Civic approx 125 k miles. For the past few weeks check engine light has come on & gone off. When low on fuel it comes on then about 50 miles after filling up it goes off & comes on again when fuel is low. Today took it to auto zone they said code was PO420. I don't notice any change in driving & don't have lots of money for repairs. Is it safe to drive for awhile if the catalytic converter is truly bad?

  • Did anyone have a parent die of a drug overdose?

I did many years ago and there isn't a lot of info/support out there. Mostly it's parents who have children overdose or adults losing siblings. Parents are supposed to be the role model, supposed to be there for there children, not abandon them to drugs. Sometimes I wonder if my parent overdosed deliberately as a suicide but I think it was just an accident. Growing up in a drug enviornment wasn't easy and nobody I know had to deal with it. I don't touch drugs for this reason.

Also I wonder, is it easier to tell people that a parent died from suicide or a drug overdose? Obviously both have their stigma.
