Are Walmart employees required to have a smartphone?

Every time I ask where something is in Walmart, the employee pulls out a smartphone and looks up to see if they have it.

Are Walmart employees, particularly stockers, required to have a smartphone or are they issued one?

If this is the case, I don't have a smartphone so I don't think I could work there. :D

No but they are required to be at least three of the following: 1. Stupid. 2. Lazy. 3. Fat. 4. Smelly. 5. Unable to speak English intelligibly. 6. Extremely ugly or strange looking. 7. "Greasy" - meaning that they either live in a trailer or in a really bad part of town and buy cigarettes one at a time, drink malt liquor and think pro wrestling is "real".

Those are probably special devices that the store owns

rather than each employee's own phone.

Yes. Of the two, one of them needs to be smart.

No, but if they have one they load an app, that ties into the store inventory, or they can walk over to one of the scanner/inventory machines around the store, or a hand held device that allows for checking stock on hand.

Many stores have inventory apps to scan and order items to maintain par for those with close distribution centers.

They are probably Iron Man inventory devices.
