The pill in Ireland. ?

Depends on the pill.  The Gardai have recently reduced their estimate of the street value of ecstasy.   They are only paying €5-per-tablet for theirs.

Legally you're an adult, so there's nothing stopping you from using contraception - and good that you are using it, but bear in mind that while the pill protects you from unplanned pregnancy, it doesn't protect you from nasty diseases, so if you don't know the guy very well, use condoms too.

You can always go into your family doctor and talk to him/her about this, legally they cannot discuss your appointment or anything about it with your parents as you are now an adult. It is a good idea to talk about this with him/her - especially if your doctor is a woman - because you might have medical issues that could affect how the pill works in your body, some women do better on a certain type of pill. 

If you can't talk to your doctor about it, try your nearest Well Woman Centre. Google them. 

Finally, be aware too that using the pill can cause you to gain weight. Plan in regular exercise and eat sensibly.

If you are prone to very painful periods, this is a VERY good and very valid reason for taking contraceptive pills - and you can tell your parents this if they ever find out.

But you should talk to your mother about it, in any case. It would be wiser.

They offer counseling, care, birth control. often financial help. If 18 is the age of emancipation in Ireland, like here, then you are an adult and your parents need not be involved.

I will gently suggest one aspect of life: One step towards becoming a real adult is standing before your parents and telling them about your adult decisions and standing by them. This happens when and if a young person is ready for it.

Contraception is not free. You will need to pay for it yourself.  As you are classed as an adult, there is no reason your parents would know unless you tell them.
