Why are my friends having kids?
They aren’t married. One is divorced. All I care about is my career and myself. I know how hard I’ve had to work just at that I can’t imagine a kid.
Am I missing something?

You and I are in the same boat. All I care about is myself and my career. Everyone at my older lesser paying jobs had kids, and it's insane. They did not have the money to support a kid, and a lot of them were not able to save their paychecks because of this. What is the point of having a kid when you have to live like a slave to take care of the thing? Most people do not have good paying jobs, but still think that it's a good idea to have a baby. I just don't understand it.

Presumably they want kids.
Presumably you are missing the desire to have children at this point which your friends have.

Your friends want kids; so they're having kids.
You don't; so you're not.
Not really much more to it.

Having kids is not satisfying. Kids will destroy ANY relationship.Raising kids is obscenely expensive. You will be a helluva lot richer without kids. The planet is overcrowded. Bringing a child into this polluted world must be considered child abuse. You are NOT missing anything good. Being childless is the responsible thing to do.

I have a very lucrative and respectable career AND I have a child AND I'm married. I didn't sacrifice my career to become a mother.
Welcome to 2020.
