When do you know it's time to start feeding your dog(s) wet food only?

I never did, wet dog food would give mine diarrhea, we only gave it to them as a treat. Except when our 15yro aussie got butt cancer, we started giving her more because the tumor was blocking the path of the rectum, so softer stools made life easier for her.

I never feed my dog wet food. I give them a mix of 25% Kibbles and Bits for variety and 75% TD to keep their teeth clean. If you feed just wet food their teeth do not get their surfaces cleaned and you will eventually have to get them put under anesthesia for dental cleaning and removal of bad teeth.

What? Is there ever a time to feed dry food only?

There IS no "time" that dogs need to be fed only wet food. (assuming you mean canned dog meat).

Feeding just canned meat alone is not a good diet for a dog. Its best fed with biscuit meal or mixed with kibble.

There is also no way to answer your question with a positive answer, as you don`t say how old your dog is and what he or she is being fed at the moment.

The only 'time' you might have to do that is if your dog has a gum/teeth problem, before and after the dental he'll need. Look on the label - you'll usually see it's 80% MOISTURE which means you won't be giving your dog a complete diet. So there is no 'right time' to be doing this, dental need apart.

Add - I do resort to using tinned Chappie (UK) if my hound has a tummy upset.

I used to feed my dog wet food exclusively. That is until some drunk liberal shot my dog with a crossbow for laughs.
