Is there a specific species of pepper just called chili pepper?
I thought chili pepper was a general term for spicy peppers, when I bought a bottle of chili pepper powder the ingredients just said "Chili Pepper" Not Cayenne or tabasco or any other specific type. When googling it I just get results regarding the entire pepper family. So is their a specific species of pepper referred to as the chili pepper, or are ingredients lists just allowed to be vague?
