Can you regain your eyesight after puberty?

I remember before I hit puberty that I was able to see perfectly. Although ever since I hit puberty I became nearsighted. Now I am 18 and am thinking about getting LASIK but I am afraid that I would regain my eyesight later on in my life.

You do not usually grow out of myopia.

In order to get LASIK you need to make an appointment for diagnosis. First try going to an opthamologist and find out why your eyes did what they did, and then get the referral for LASIK if that is the best solution. But it is best to know, so make the appointment and go find out, first.

The most likely way that you could become myopic and then change back is if you had pseudo myopia. This will be checked for before LASIK by doing something called a cycloplegic refraction. Since you started so late developing myopia, you need to wait a few more years to make sure that your eyes have stabilized before considering refractive surgery. LASIK is expected to take care of your myopia for the rest of your life. About the time that you hit forty, you are expected to develop presbyopia. LASIK will not prevent this.

    Eyesight doesn't work like that.

The defect is physical. A warped lens.

The treatment for such is corrective lenses, like glasses or contact lenses.

Lasix may not cure your problem, but could limit your options for later.
