Does Rear Sway Bar Increase Lateral Grip/Acceleration?

On skid pad tests done by most car reviewers, they often give a value for lateral grip. For example, the 2011 WRX STI has a .93g average, according to Motortrend here:

I never see people discuss higher numbers when upgrading suspension parts, which I'm sure helps. Can a simple rear sway bar increase this number?

Lateral grip (AKA skidpad) measures one thing: the grip of the tires on the road. Nothing else. Want a higher number? Put stickier tires on the car. It may or may not make the car actually handle better, but you'll have more grip. In fact, the now defunct Sport Compact Car magazine years ago did a test. They compared the skidpad of a bunch of different cars, from a stock Toyota Yaris, various project cars, Stock EVO, Formula 1 car, Star Mazda, etc. They even did a bulldozer (just because it was funny to watch). Aside from the bulldozer, the stock Yaris hatchback was the worst at I think .76g. They did nothing but put Hoosier R3S03 racing slicks on it and it pulled a 1.01g. They described it as feeling like the car was going to tip over, it leaned horribly in turns, but it pulled 1.01g.

Sway bars just adjust the attitude of the car. Softer in front or stiffer in the rear increases rotation (oversteer).

Harder in front or softer in rear slows rotation (understeer).

All the suspension does is control weight transfer. You cannot increase the tires grip with the ground by lowering it or making the springs stiffer. That just controls attitude as well.

Anti sway bars determine how much oversteer or understeer a car has. The lateral grip is mainly determined by the springs and struts/shocks.
