Stretching children's ears?

I just read some posts that said some parents are now stretching their young children's ear piercings. There were also posts that said this was all "urban legend" stuff and that it is not actually happening. I think a normal size piercing for a baby or young child is one thing and each family should decide for themselves what is right for their children, but stretching their ears is an entirely different matter. Has anyone actually seen a young child with stretched ears or tapers in their ears or is this all a lot of rumor and talk?

Honestly I disagree with piercing young children at all - your child is not a fashion accessory; let them decide in their own time whether and how they want holes punched in their flesh.

However, gauging (actually cookie-cuttering out a lump of flesh, ready for stretchage) the ears of toddlers does, upon some research, appear to be an urban legend. The only sources seem to be satirical websites. Even if this ever has happened - and one would worry about any establishment that would agree to do it - it would be a really rare one-off and hardly what you might call a trend. Phew. :)

I have seen teenagers with stretched ears but never anyone younger than their teens. Sime places do sell earrings that look like tapers for stretching ears but they have a regular size post that goes through the ear.
