Why can Christians eat Pork and Muslim/Jews cant ?

Eating pork is forbidden (Deuteronomy 14:8). I dont remember Jesus saying that it was OK, in fact he said something about no changing the scripture but coming to forefill it.

This is found at 1 Corinthians 10:25. In the King James, the word used is "shambles". This means "meat market". That Christians, even Jewish Christians, were no longer under Mosaic dietary Laws. So, whether a believer or a non-believer serves anything to eat--other than containing blood-- a Christian could eat. (Acts 15:20, 28-29 concerning restrictions to be imposed on Gentiles becoming Christians. Note**** these were NECESSARY THINGS.)

Those included in these food non-restrictions would be Jews and Christians. Since much of the writings of the prophets were concerning Jesus as the Messiah, then Jews would have come under the rules given by the Body of Elders in Jerusalem given in Acts 15.

Moslems "say" they worship the God of Abraham. If true, the same prophecies concerning the Messiah and obedience to what he put in place would still apply to them as well.

No restrictions on beef, pork, chicken or lamb is n place any more.

Early Christianity were essentially a lot of small cults popping up with various beliefs. Some were closer to Judaism, others were far removed from it. They even all had their own Bibles.

When the church sat down to establish a uniform belief system in like the 4th century, one of the things debated was how much Jewish law would be kept.

Things like kosher laws, circumcision, etc. were abandoned because they knew it would make mass conversions unlikely. So they took this point of view of it being a 'new covenant' that abolished the old one.

In Judaism, there never will be a new covenant, which they believe is eternal. And Islam took more after Judaism in the scriptures.

Yeah, christians are not allowed to eat pork just like muslims and jews. there are still some christian groups that don't eat pork (e.g. mormons). However, most christians follow their popes and don't have good knowledge of the bible. jesus clearly mentions that he has not come to change the law in 'Mathew'. And this is said in the New Testament.. not only the Old Testament.

For Christians, we live under the New Testament of grace, so we have no checklist of rules (aside from the 10 commandments) of what we can or can't eat, wear, etc. 1 Timothy 4:3- 'They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.' Or Mark 7:19- 'For it doesn't go into their heart, but into the stomach and then out of the body.' (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean) Food has no bearing in the good or evil within a person's heart.

The purpose of Jesus was to fulfill scripture, not to change it. Jesus did fulfill scripture. Peter had a vision from God sometime after which is written in the book Acts.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter's_vision_of_a_s...

Matthew 5:18 New Living Translation says:

I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved.

It is true that this translation doesn't quite match other translations.

    King James Bible

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

So it is important to learn Greek and read it in the original. In this way we may come to greater understanding about the spirit of the words. Pray for understanding as you read the Bible.

because christians are not under old testament law

the old testament was for israel only

jesus told the jews they were required to keep the law

gentiles were never under the law

    god told gentiles

    1 Timothy 4:3-5

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

3 Who forbid people to marry and [teach them] to abstain from [certain kinds of] foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and have [an increasingly clear] knowledge of the truth.

4 For everything God has created is good, and nothing is to be thrown away or refused if it is received with thanksgiving.

5 For it is hallowed and consecrated by the Word of God and by prayer.

Christians made a new contract with God and not eating pork isn't one of the conditions God requires us to keep under the terms and conditions of this contract.
