My garage door with the motoriesd opener?

Seems to work ok, but sometimes I find the garage door open when I am sure that I closed it. Will a broken opener open the door accidentally?

How about if my next door neighbor has a remote control that has the same code as mine?

A couple things can trigger the operator to work when you do not want it to.(1) is a faulty wall control or wiring for the power head to the wall control.(2) Faulty transmitter or Keyless entry system.

    (3) someone has copied your transmitter. (4) door reverses before the down limit switch shuts off the motor called rebounding.

    Easy fixes

first erase the code and recode ALL transmitters and keyless entry, second if needed remove 1 wire form the terminal on the power head to the wall control (this will test the wiring and wall control).Watch the door close does the door come closed and reverse?if it reverses adjust down limit to close less.Should you need to know how to erase and recode transmitters and or keyless let me know.Darrell

The environment is saturated with signals of all types so there will be times when your door opener will respond when it should not. Yes, your neighbor's remote control could possibly do it as well as a wandering thief who has a custom made box that can send out various codes as he drives by looking for opportunity. Personally, I would never trust my door to a wireless signal and only use a key. You would have to know how to work with electronic circuits but my approach would be to require two qualifying signals to open the door. One signal from the car and another from my cell phone. There might be an app for a "smart phone" to accomplish this, you can look. Of course I'm just guessing about the phone app since I still use a Nokia 1100 that only talks. Imagine that --a phone that only talks.
