How To Deal With Tree Roots In Your Sewer Line?
You might first be wondering, how do I keep the roots out of the sewer line in the first place? Ultimately the only way is to make sure the pipe stays intact is that it doesn’t get breaks in the first place. But seeing as you can’t even see the pipes that are buried underground, this isn’t something you can do.

Preventing tree roots from entering sewer pipe - have no trees within 1 mile of the sewer.
Trees can send roots up to 1 mile in search of that water.
You can use a root destroyer crystals in the drains to kill the roots. But it won't REMOVE the roots. You need a powerful drain auger with the correct attachment to remove them.
But they WILL come back so long as there are any trees nearby.
Some plumbing companies can do a trenchless sewer repair. That buys you more time. You have to contact them for details and pricing.
How roots get into the sewer in the first place:
The roots begin to wrap around the pipe trying to get the water. Tighter and tighter they get until they form a crack in the pipe or break the pipe complete. Roots use a kind of hydrostatic pressure to do the job.
Think BOA Constricter in a way.

There are sewer line repair companies that can install a sewer pipe liner into the pipe that will cure and be just as strong as the original pipe.

Yes it can be seen. The plumbers have a camera on a long cable that they shove down the line. like a coloscopy.
