what wire controls tail lights on 97 escort?

Have a wire issue on a 97' escort that causes parking light fuse to blow every time the lights are turned on. Wire short is somewhere not worth tracing in the main harness. Which wire going to the tail lights is for the parking lamps and where can I splice a new power w/ switch in so it controls both back lights?

The fuse you mentioned feeds the park light relay via a white/black wire. from there, coming out of the dash fuse box, you will see 6 red / black wires from 4 different connectors. These 6 wires feed the entire park light system. The first connector, the RD/BK wires will be on pins 3,6,and 8. 3 goes to r/f side marker, 6 to r/f park/turn, and 8 is power coming in from the relay. On the other connector, same color wires, pin 9 is for l/f lighting ( side marker and turn). The third connector is on pins 3 and 5. Pin 3 is dash illumination and 5 runs to all the rear lights. (tail, side marker and license plate) Again, they are all red with a black stripe.

Working for years on these cars, the most probable trouble area is the park relay with an internal short, the car radio, and the wiring at the trunk hinge where it goes into the sheet metal.
