Won't it be great when voting Republican or Democrat takes away votes from the serious parties?

I always hear people say "Voting 3rd party takes away votes from serious contenders (either Democrat or Republican). I do hope the third parties take over America so these "You're wasting your vote" Republicans/Democrats can get a taste of their own medicine! When the 2 parties keep failing us over and over again and people (hopefully) wake up and start looking at other options and the Republicans/Democrats are the minority voters, won't it be nice to say "You're wasting your vote! So un-American!" Then again, if third party candidates get into office, votes most likely won't be being "wasted" anyway. So for the future of America and to the people who, right now, refuse to vote third party, from those of us who dare "waste our votes": YOU'RE WELCOME!

Update:

@Whoovian. A fellow Dr Who fan? I know it's unrelated, but if so, AWESOME!

I think your idea is interesting!

I would love that which is why I want to see some election reform.

How about this we replace the primary system with a 3 step process or have a free for all in November?

I always wonder how screwed up your head has to be to use that "voting for a third party is a waste of a vote" mentality. I live in New York. Obama's going to win all the electoral votes. With that kind of thinking nobody should bother voting for Mittens. I'll be voting for whoever is the third party on the ballot. I want both paries to know I'm going to vote, but I won't support their crap. That's a wasted vote.

Why do human beings think of Ron Paul can win vs Obama and Romney as a 0.33 occasion while he cant even beat Romney on my own? It is mindless.... Ron Paul's numbers will pass Down working as a third occasion, why might they pass up? i think of Ron Paul might in all risk get approximately 4-5% of the Vote and maximum of his supporters are Indipendants and additionally NEW electorate, he might in all risk harm the Republican candidate a sprint extra, yet no longer sufficient to offer up them from prevailing.

The american political system is set up so there are only ever 2 viable political parties, until the system is changed you are wasting your vote.
