Cheap Motorcycle Helmets?
I have a dumb question, that I most likely know the answer to, but I would like to get some relevant information for it. Has anyone seen or heard of this kind of helmet: http://amzn.to/JJ2bQU , it's a 20 dollar carbon fiber optic, that's apparently DOT rated. Why would it be that cheap for full carbon fiber, it's got great reviews to it also.
My dumb question: is it safe?
So I emailed and asked what's up, and got this response:

My impressions are
It's made in China
It's not real carbon fibre, but fake.
Chinese companies love to put fake stickers on things so I doubt if it is DOT approved.
My head is worth more than 20 bucks.
The sizing will be wrong and probably won't fit you.
I would not buy one at all.

It only has a carbon fiber look, the write up sez it is composit. May or may not be DOT rated, may or may not fit. Better than the best 3/4 helmet or 1/2 shell.
