i need help turning right on red?

i live in california. this is what confuses me. how do you know you have enough time to make that right turn? for example, if you want to turn right and you're waiting for the cars directly across from you to turn their left, that's ok. but sometimes, a lot of cars want to turn left so they won't stop until their light turns red. after that light turns red, who goes next? i don't know that's what confuses me and i don't know if i have enough time to turn right.

can you guys just tell me how to turn right on red and where to look, please?

turning right on red, remember: YOU DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY!

them folks across the street turning left with their green light/arrow have the right of way.

If you dont think you have time to turn, then you don't!

The other thing to watch out for, as you are watching all the vehicular traffic, is the little pedestrian who is walking across the street right where you want to turn!

    Be safe,not sorry!

Sure, you'll make some people angry, but you wont hurt anyone by waiting.

Many people think that they can make a right on red, no matter what. That is not the case. You can make a right on red only after you have come to a complete stop, and then only when it is safe to do so. Cutting people off, i.e. cutting in front of someone making their proper left turn, or jumping ahead of the people that are crossing on a green light, is not the way to do it. Burns my butt when people do that when I am on my motorcycle.
