concerned about my parakeet?

hello, i have a male parakeet. i got him january 1st 2003. i've had him almost 8 years now and he is in good health, however i noticed tiny brown marks above his nostrals. he isn't behaving any different, he is still a goofy active chirper and still full of energy as always though. so it doesnt seem to be affecting him, but i cant help but be concerned ya know? is this a normal process of aging or a minor cold perhaps? any info would be great. i've had him almost 8 years now, and im unsure of his age when i bought him in 2003.

It happens with age. Glad to hear he is doing well at 8 years :)

The brown staining above the nostrils is an indicator of a respiratory irritation.................either a respiratory infection or something has aggravated his breathing like something sprayed near him in then house.

If he is tail pumping when he breathes then he has a respiratory infection and needs the vet. If not, whatever has irritated his breathing may have passed.

This is not age related ..........its respiratory....pure and simple.

It could be a sign of cancer or a female.
