Are these dogs picky eaters?

I like to buy Alaskan Malamute and Husky. Are they picky eaters? Do they bite intruders? Thank you

I think you should learn a lot more about dogs and dog behaviour before you buy either one of these beautiful but dominant breeds.

Some dogs are picky eaters, most are not. Some dogs will bite an intruder but dogs don't know the difference between and intruder and a welcome visitor unless you train them so they are aware that you make the decisions about who is allowed inside your property and who is not welcome.

I have a dog whose breed is famous for eating everything in sight. A dachshund. My dachshund is THE pickiest eater I have ever seen. Even when we find food he will eat, it only lasts 3 to 5 days. We have tried every premium dog food out there so you cannot go by a type or breed of dog as to being a picky eater. All I can say is good luck.

breed has nothing to do with a dog being a picky eater or not. owners make dogs picky eaters. Dogs of any breed can bite, they have to be trained how to properly behave around strangers and people in general.

    No and no.

Both will eat almost anything, including your kids' pet bunnies, shoes, dirty underwear and the couch.

Neither has any guard dog instincts whatsoever. Most won't even bark at intruders except to invite them to play.

They are somewhat dog-to-dog aggressive, however.

To be honest with you, all dogs are picky eaters!! And both breeds can be protective. However, they will need training to learn when to protect and when they are not supposed to. I have a German shepherd who is very protective of our home, she did bite our roommate when we first moved in. And she always growls and barks when she hears people outside. All it takes for her to behave when we have company is having them give her treats. As soon as she is introduced, she receives a treat from them. When maintenance guys come in, we shut her in our bedroom and she constantly growls and barks.

They will eat almost anything and are not aggressive to intruders but do have a large prey drive.
