Taste of the Wild Dog Food Recall?
My neighbor said she read somewhere about a recent dog food recall from Taste of the Wild. Google searches have left me with nothing? Blue Buffalo recently recalled but can't seem to find anything on TOTW. Anyone know?
I'm not interested in changing dog foods but just wanted to see if there WAS a TOTW recall that I was unable to find information on.
To the individual who suggested switching to Beneful - what are you smoking? That's like going from eating lobster to eating off-brand mac 'n cheese. Even folks who work at Pet Smart told me Beneful is the top selling dog food but the poorest quality.
Thanks to the others of you for your input!

I haven't heard anything about a recall from TOTW since my dog started eating it last year.

Taste if the wild is a good brand. I work at a petstore as an inventory manager and I can tell you that It's a good seller. You said youve tried acana, another good sister brand is orijen. Also science diet and royal canin are well known dog foods

Eukanuba is garbage food, that they charge a lot for. Beneful is garbage as well. Avoid any food with by-product meal in it. Even though Eukanuba says that not all by product is equal, it's still leftover crap. "refined" just means they've sifted out the big pieces of plastic and garbage. I advise people to avoid foods with Corn and wheat in them as well. They are just fillers and not easily digested by a lot of dogs. Look for foods with whole proteins as their first few ingredients. Some foods say they have chicken as their number one ingredient, but that's only because they have split out the grains into parts, like corn hull, corn gluten meal, etc... if they listed it as just corn, it would be the first ingredient. Brewers rice is another ingredient to avoid. It's been through the brewing process so it's nothing more than filler with no nutrients whatsoever. Good sources for dog food info are the whole dog journal or petfoodanalysis.com

I haven't heard anything on Taste of the Wild being recalled. The Blue Buffalo recall also includes the Wilderness brand, maybe your neighbor is just confusing the names.

Below is all I could find. I've moved on from Royal Canin to Wellness now that it's available at my local PetSmart. Blue was making 3 of my dogs have severe cramping/seizure like episodes. I got on here and told people about it and got a bunch of TDs for my pains.
If you're feeding it, I'd switch to something else immediately just to be safe, before you have a permanent catastrophe. The 3 that were affected still can't eat anything but Hill's z/d without having the seizing episodes.

I would gradually switch off of that brand to either wellness or eukanuba if you can afford it (it's soo expensive) if you can't then try beneful or natural choice. DON'T BUY CANNED DOG FOOD! they grind up extremely weird stuff into those and there are so many recalls on them it's not even funny!
