Seasonal Effective Order...light bulb question...?

I live in Northern Indiana, and oh yes, we're coming upon that time of year! The time of year where the sun doesn't shine for weeks and weeks at a time!

Well, I don't do very well during this time of year. Last year was HORRIBLE!! I barely mustered up enough energy to get myself through Thanksgiving and Christmas last year! It was just bad! I have lots of plans to help myself get through winter this year without letting myself get depressed, because let me tell you, once you hit that state, there's no pulling out of it. That was my experience last year.

I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could get a full spectrum light bulb that I could just put in a regular desk lamp. Light boxes are super expensive and I can't afford to buy one. If I could just get a bulb, how many watts should I get it in? Is there a specific one I should be looking for? And where should I go about looking for one? I'm sure they don't just sell them anywhere. And I need something affordable!

Thanks in advance for the help! I am hoping that this year I won't have to dread winter at all because I know I'll have something that will help :)

ebay has effective lights that you sit next to each morning for 100$ and sometimes LESS! try it.

I'm buying one this year coz last winter was the pits man, and I HATED IT! This summer I broke out of it w/beautiful sunshine, walking everyday and eventually ♫felt cheery♪ again! They say these lights really work so it sounds like it's definitely worth investing in ☺

There's some good sellers on there w/great testamonials. And the articles on using these light machines are *AWESOME* People like this will definitely benefit from using them so we can live out our lives as we deserve to :o) Good luck 2U and CHEERS!

P.S. the spectrum light bulbs are great, however for something like Seasonal depression, the light boxes are MUCH more effective + if you get perscription from your doctor for one, in many cases your health insurance will pay for it [I know mine will]. If not though, the investment is still worth it. However your ins. will most likely cover the light box as well.

Amazon has some, and the reviews are not so bad.
