Question about TiVo replacing cable box?

I was looking at the brochure for TiVo and it said it could replace your cable box so you wouldn't have to pay the rental for the box. So my question is if you had the extended channels(ie channels past 100) would the TiVo be able to pick up those channels or would you still need to have a cable box?

The TiVo should be able to replace the cable box, but it may be a struggle. Cable companies don't like devices like TiVos, since they lose the monthly rental fees. But they are required by law to support them by supplying you with a CableCard that performs the functions of their cable box. Be sure to ask for an M-card, which supports two tuners. And from what I've read, be prepared for a hassle getting it working. Be persistent and stick up for your rights.
