Better living space for group of foster kitttens?

I am currently fostering 5 kittens, 4-5 weeks old with no mom. I've pretty much got the information on everything for them, but do have one question. The way my house is setup the extra bedroom is attached by a door to a small bathroom. I originally intended to just keep them in the bathroom, but now I feel it may be too small(maybe 2.5ft by 5ft floor space), also I didn't realize before that the door opened into to bathroom, and there is no natural light. The bedroom is pretty standard size, I use it just for fosters so it has nothing in it at all.

Should I keep them in the small bathroom, or open up the door and let them have access to the bedroom as well both for light and space? Food, water and litterbox would still be kept in the bathroom. And I'm not TOO concerned about getting the carpet dirty because all the carpets in this house need a visit with a carpet cleaner.

I also have fostered kittens as I rescue feral kittens. I'd let them have both rooms, they're at an age where they will become more active and playful, and will enjoy the space. They will prefer not playing by the litterbox, and would prefer not to eat too close to it also.

Kittens are so much fun! I've had as many as 7 at a time, and it's just a constant circus!

Your kittens are still small. Block off the door with a small barrier. When they feel confident they will move into the other room and then you can take the barrier down. Don't fret the small stuff you will know when they are ready. Thank you for being a foster mom you are a rare person and we need more people like you.

I must respectfully disagree with the above answer...kittens need room to romp and play. Please allow them access to the bedroom as well as the bathroom.

If they want a "cave" to sleep in, you could provide them with a cat carrier, door open, with a soft bed inside and a blanket over the top of it. They'll feel nice and safe in it when naptime comes.

A bedroom is a perfect size for a litter of kittens...not too overwhelming, but with adequate space to race around and do what kittens do. Of course, plenty of toys is a must too :)

they are so young that they do not need full roam of 2 rooms. I would keep them confined in just the bathroom as long as their litter box.food.water is in there with them. Even if you think its a small space, they will be fine. They will feel more secure in a smaller area.
