Longest Drive For Charity?

I just got this idea that had just came to me.

I've never actually done anything for charity and I thought to myself I'd also like to do something that i've never done before, something that i'll enjoy doing and while at it I'll do it for a good course, so I thought about a long drive, driving from England (UK) to Johannesburg (South Africa), it will be a long and tiring expedition.

So while everything is starting to become more and more clear to me I realised that I may need some advice, anyone who's got any information that may be use full it would be great to hear from you. I'm also wondering if I could get any sponsors, how would I go about getting the donations in and advise on what i will need to equip myself with...

Thanks guys I'm really looking forward to some really good responses.

A few years ago, my nephew did the drive from Marble Arch to Ulan Bator in Mongolia for charity. He and his pal bought an old Fait Panda 4wd. The entrants had to support themselves mechanically, no back-up. I think that the maximum allowed price of the cars was £300. When they arrived, the cars were auctioned off for local charities. Good luck.
