Taking on the work load.what to do?

I have a pretty good feeling on what I should do but incase I missed anything I would like to know.

I work a court and have my boss and another coworker. Things are okay here however, my coworker informed me that as soon as another job opens up she's out of here.

This is fine, it's life I know. BUT how do I deal with taking on the extra work being that i am still in training and my boss doesn't know squat? Not to mention, I was planning on leaving before her and now it looks like that won't happen. If i do leave, I am leaving my boss out in the cold.

So summary:

How to handle coworker leaving (realistically it will be months before this happens)?

What to do when I plan on leaving in another year or so when something opens up?

Am I obligated to be truthful and loyal to a boss who ranks low on the scale?

Thanks.

P.S. I wanted to mention that I had it planed that when I got this job I was going to work for a year or two then move out. I am only here because it's the only job I can find right now.

First your question is under video games. You might want to ask to have it moved or something.

Anyways I've always felt loyalty is something earned. I can work hard and do my job for anyone. But loyalty is way beyond just working hard. And If my boss never earns it by treating me with respect and watching my back when the **** hits the fan then i have no loyalty towards him. most bosses i've had are so worried about there own jobs they never once make sure your job is safe. Little do they know there job is in your hands. Un till they earn your respect beyond here is your check thanks for working, Then you owe him nothing besides finishing the current day that you are on.

As for the upcoming work load. This also sitting in the lap of your boss. It's going to be his job to do what he can as quick as possible to take the load off your back. This will be the time to test how much loyalty he deserves.

I've been pushed against the wall many times with double workload and the threat of me being fired. I love my current job and don't want to loss it. But every assist they send me fails horribly then I end up having double work load. My boss does not deserve my loyalty and i won't give it to him. The only thing that get's me week from week after the late nights and double work loads with bosses breathing down my neck to get things done on time is my addiction to video games. Even if it's only an hour a night, It get's me thur the hard weeks.

    Hope this helps man.
