Is The Soul Simply Human Will?

I was thinking that the soul is only an experiencing being, with only one power; the power of will. I will to act, but then my body takes over. I am placing my brain's functions in the same category of my body, in that it is separate from my soul. Even now, I am willing myself to type this thought out, but my brain takes over and every thought that I come up with and view is of my brain's design. I then feel my mind saying it is a cohesive thought, and because of this I will the discussion to continue. So, feeling positive, like all other feelings/emotions are products of the body.

So, every belief that you have was not created by your soul, but by your brain. Every internal discussion you've had or are having, even about this, was/is only being viewed and is separate. You only think that is "you" having these thoughts both because you Will the answer to be found, and because you can't discern human from spirit. You have learned to attribute intelligent thought to humans, so it must be "you" creating it.

So what if "you" as a cognitive thinker and believer and deducer of your own conclusions, are the soul in and of itself?

Thats what makes us human, the ability to have thoughts, and percieve things as we will.

After all, the world is only as relative as your perception.

The soul is an outmoded concept with no more useful explanatory value compared modern social and neurological sciences. The aspects of human behavior and consciousness once attributed to the soul can now be better understood and explained with more modern paradigms. The only thing I see the concept of the soul still doing is giving people a reason to believe they'll never really die.

    A quote worth considering:

"It does not require a large eye to see a large mountain. The reason is that, though the eye is small, the soul which sees through it is greater and vaster than all the things which it perceives. In fact, it is so great that it includes all objects, however large or numerous, within itself. For it is not so much that you are within the cosmos as that the cosmos is within you."

~ Meher Baba, Life At Its Best, p. 43

I believe the soul speaks in a still, small voice that is rarely heard amid the loud turmoil of the brain and ego. One must be in silence for the quiet, sweet words to be heard.

    Peace to you.
