What are some environmentally safe things we can do with shampoo bottles?

I feel bad because I keep throwing them away and filling up the landfills. Help please.

Update:

Burning them isn't good for the environment either.

Look for bottles made of #1 plastic, they are the most easily recycled. Buy larger bottles so you buy fewer bottles. Wash your hair less so you can reduce the amount of bottles you will need to buy.

Stores like Whole foods have many beauty supplies that you can refill your own bottle, so it is never thrown away or recycled.

    Recycle them.

There are many things that can help greatly in the environment by just recycling. Look for organic shampoo's and soaps and try to buy shampoo's made with less plastic.
