iPod Touch help please!?

I want to purchase an iPod touch for myself. Only problem is, I have NEVER owned an iPod and it's been many years since I've owned an MP3 player. What is the difference between 1st generation and 2nd generation? What size should I get? Should I buy it directly from the apple website, or some place else? Also... how much is the music from iTunes per song? Any other suggestions for purchase?

    0.99 cents a song get it from apple. 2nd is better because it has app store a speaker so u don't always need headphones and a volume button on the side. 8gb is plenty of space mine has a lot of stuff and I only. Used 2.5gb I also think engraving is cool unless u plan on selling it later (engrave for free)

    The only difference between 1st and 2nd generation is that 1st is older and a tiny bit bigger. If you are going to have thousands of songs and several movies, pics, etc. I suggest getting a 16 or larger gb. I have a 8 gb and I have less than 500 songs and only a few pics and a movie and I still have tons of space left on it. It doesn't really matter if you buy it online or not but if you buy it online from apple you can get it engraved for free. It is 0.99 cents per song on I tunes. I just got my iPod touch today and so far I am very pleased with it. In fact, I am using it to answer your question haha I'm very excited to use it.

    the first generation the battery life is only like 22 hours while the second gener is like 36 hours it cost for second like 300 with taxes and a bit of money left over if you want a case it will be about 316.18 dollars or around there. the seocnd gener is lighter by like a pound or something and depending on how much music u have it come sin like 8 16 and 32 gb of memory you should buy it from best buy. because it doesnt matter where u buy it from because they are all teh same brand.

    Personally I like the 1st gen, I don't like how the second gen has the volume nob on the side. The second gen u can also listen to the music without headphones! I would get 1st gen 8-16 gigs. And get ur name engraved in it, incase it Is lost. The songs are all 1$ but u can use limewire for free..... I would get it from apple.com

    iPod touch... however the Nano's have a digital camera, so I woudn't say they suck. and that they arrive in distinctive colorings too... i like the iPod touch for the reason which you could obtain video games and track everywhere there is wifi, and the video games shop me amused throughout loooong journeys
