PLEASE HELP!!! problem with my parakeet!!!?

my parakeet, i have hade her for 5 years. she has a dark spot on her beak. i read online it is a sign of fatty liver disease caused by an all seed dit. but the seed i feed her is premium brand, has a mix of oats, grains, is vitaman enriched and reaches full standereds to be fed all the time. the web said the spot might be hemorging. i am really scared, i lover her so much please help me! i can't get to a vet for another week.

out of all the signs that point to this disease she DOES NOT have an overgrown or rapidly growing beak and she is NOT over weight.

I am a Certified Veterinary Assistant and I think that with the bird acting normal that she will be fine as long as you get her to the vet as soon as possible. I mean she is not going to die in the next week or so. I will give you some examples of some good food to feed her.

This food is very good because it has both seed and pellets in it. Also don't forget to feed your bird fresh fruits and veggies.

Any questions feel free to email me.

    Good Luck!

Just because it's a premium seed diet doesn't mean it protects her from illnesses or diseases. All parakeets need a diet of organic fruits, vegetables, whole wheat bread, rice and other things. In the wild parakeets only ate seeds and millet around springtime when the grew and the rest of the year they ate that other stuff. They need this variety to keep them healthy. I'm sorry about your parakeet. I pray she gets better.

its probably normal, dark beak tells the age of the bird. if its dark, that means he's either 1 to 3 years old.

Some parakeets will develope brown flaky ceres when they are in prime breeding condition. It is probably nothing to worry about.

You can't get a vet for another week? I'm no expert on birds, but isn't there at least one vet in the area that you can visit? It seems serious, why not see if there is a place you can go to nearby.

Bring her to an avian vet. They will be able to diagnose the 'keets problen, if there is any problem to begin with.

If it's acting normally then i guess it's okay.
