My laptop keeps saying "We are ready!" Any idea why?

A few weeks ago I started hearing a male voice announcing, "We are ready!" at irregular intervals. sometimes it comes out every few minutes, and other times a couple days go by between pronouncements. Scans reveal no bugs, trojans, malware, etc... but I did reinstall AIM 6.0 at about the same time.

Does anyone know what this is all about? Thank you!

On AOL/AIM buddy lists, users can configure it so when they sign on/off, you can hear a 1-3 second sound clip.

Someone on your buddy list has it so when he/she signs on/off, you'll hear "we are ready"

Get rid of AIM. see if this stops it, and if so you may have opened a big security whole on your machine through aim. I would not touch anything AOL with someone else's barge-pole.

Download AdAware and Spybot and run scans and you will be fine.
