Atheists/Agnostics: Why not believe in God?

Okay, I'm going to talk a little about evolution, so if you're tired of this, this is your warning.

The wind exists without a doubt, right? How do we know? If I said "you can't prove the wind" and you said "just look at the trees moving" or "you can feel it now," I could say "God's doing that."

If I drove up in a corvette and told you "a tornado swept through a junkyard and this is what formed," you wouldn't believe me, right?

So I only have "evidence" that God exists, just like we only have evidence that the wind exists.

But there's so much evidence for an intelligent designer in the earth, that evolution couldn't possibly explain it all. The eruption of vestigial organs, the sudden appearance of millions of species, the lack of fossils that show the middle step between evolutionary periods, the grand canyon. The chances of all this being chance is a statistical impossibility thousands of times over, yet you believe it over the existence of a God. How and why?

Update:

For the evolutionists that hate my tornado incident, I'll give you an infinite number of tornadoes through an infinite number of junkyards with every model car ever created, all scrapped, and see if even 1 car is formed. Will it ever happen?

Because the concept is logically impossible.

The wind argument. Really? *sigh* The wind can be measured. Even if you don't call it "wind", the movement of the air is measurable. And saying "I see the effect that the movement of the air has on other objects" is simply an observation. Saying "yeah, but God is doing that" is supposition.

That is probably one of THE WORST evolution "analogies" ever cooked up. Honestly. You would have to be pretty much completely ignorant on the subject of evolutionary theory to make the analogy.

What you call "evidence" is what I call "faith". What's sad is that you don't see a difference.

No... there isn't a lot of evidence for Intelligent Design. Vestigial organs SUPPORT evolution. I don't know what "sudden appearance" you're talking about. Lack of fossils? Ummmm... either you're blind, willfully ignorant, misinformed or a combination thereof. And the Grand Canyon? Oh goodness... don't tell me you think it was formed "in a few days".

It's not "statistically impossible". Just improbable. So... what does that prove? Lots of things are improbable. Lots of things still happen. God STILL isn't logically possible.

I'm not at all trying to be argumentative but I could easily tell you that I created that wind and you have no way of proving me wrong. I could write my own book about how everything came into existence and tell you that only a select few know the 'truth' and that it's in the Book. You probably wouldn't believe me since my Book would be 'new' and for some reason old books must be completely factual. There were civilizations that existed before the Bible was written and they had ideas of their own. Who 'proved' all of them wrong?

If evolution is completely off the mark, that does not mean that the automatic answer is that a magical God created everything. I'm tired of the argument that it's one or the other, Creation vs. Evolution. I cannot believe that it's been narrowed down to only two options at this point. Why don't we hear more from people who believe that both my be incorrect. What happened to the crazy theories about the earth being an alien science experiment? I don't find evidence for 'intelligent' design. I just see that strange things happen. Strange and difficult to explain does not equal 'Intelligence' to me. I'm not anti-God, I'm just open to all other explanations since I don't exactly see the importance of how we came to be. All we have to go on is the word of some scientists and/or an old book written by men long ago. All it comes down to is which people do you believe? People from the past or people from the present? I find it difficult to put my faith in the word of any man when it comes to the 'unknown'.

Agnostics do believe in the possibility of God.

Wind can be measured with an instrument created by man. God can not.

There is and always will be a logical, scientific reason for any occurrence.

My husband says the only thing separating him from completely ruling out God is the Beginning. The cause of the big bang. The containment of the universe, and the thought that our being alone, or that there is no being supreme to us is arrogant.

1.) The wind is measurable, controllable, and create-able.

2.) If I wanted to do the leg work, I could go to the plant that built the Corvette and talk to the people who built it.

Based upon this question, you have STILL yet to present existence that any god/s exist. Therefore, I am logically justified in a position of agnostic atheism. If you get something better, try again :-D.

Im not atheist/agnostic but I think some people just doubt the existence of god and have their own views on how the world came to be. Its not like their views are wrong or immoral. Nobody knows the truth behind the universe. Just because a majority of people believe in god, doesnt mean its the right thing...Some people are just more scientific than spiritual. And some people just dont see religion as a big deal in their lives and thats okay. Thats all I have to say :)

God exists only your own mind. Wind is an every day occurence its there. God ain't. No fact. Wind is a fact its there.. If there was a God there wouldn't be famine, wars, poverty, starvation. You want me to keep going. Besides that man has been around a lot longer than your so called God. Your god arose because of a bunch of freed slaves they needed something to believe in but where is the fact. Just because of a bunch of Jews. I wouldn't take there word for it. Evolution at least has scientific fact backing it your God hasn't. You have absolutely no fact what so ever that your God exists so why don't you quit shoving your religon down our throats, it you want your god take him but leave us alone we don't shove our believes down your throat.

It's funny how stupid you are.

    -Happy Bunny

(By the way, canyons form when rivers pass over the same ground for millions of years. The Grand Canyon was created by the Colorado River. You are the dumbest Christian I have ever met. And actually, evolution can explain that stuff. You've never had a biology class, have you?)

There is zero evidence for the 'Biblical Designer'.

The Creation stories in the Bible are absolute crap.

They have no validity whatsoever, and place the earth as the oldest object in existence, at the center of everything.

    Ever hear of Galileo?

Apparently, you're still having trouble with some of the things that were discovered back in the 16th century.

You're not ready to live in the modern world.

    Go find a cave.

We cannot see the wind but we can hear it, measure it, analyze it, predict it, and create it. Why are you comparing an actual phenomenon to a fictional character?

    ---

Which god do we believe in, out of the thousands available?

Nobody can prove any gods, much less a specific god, exist; many people will tell you their god exists but no others, but will never be able to prove it, even if they think so. Some will threaten you with eternal pain or promise eternal joy to get you to believe in their god; these are all stories, created for people who were scared long before we understood the universe. Now we have no more reason for these superstitions.

Your logic is so stupid. There is a wall - so god exists ... stupid idiot. I'll throw same of your same logic back at you. If we were intelligently designed, then why are we in a near coma for 1/3 of our lives (i.e., sleep)? Sleep is not intelligent in a design. Also, having food, water and air enter the same opening (your mouth) is a very bad design. Ever choaked on food? If there was a designer, it is not very intelligent.
