Why does the French Open have two names: French Open and Roland Garros ?
Favourite answer:Many sporting events are known by the global media by names that differ from their "official" native titles. The best-known example of this is probably The Open Championships in Britain....which is known as "The British Open" around the world.
The official French language name for the tennis event is "Internationaux de France de Tennis." "The French Open" is the name used by the foreign and English-speaking media.
"Roland-Garros" is used in France and the French-speaking media as the "shorthand" version of the event, in much the same way that the race known as "24 Heures du Mans" is commonly known as "Le Mans."
Fun fact: The venue is named after a person named "Roland Garros"...but French language rules specify that event names based on a person's name be hyphenated. "Roland Garros" can therefore refer to the person or the venue, but "Roland-Garros" refers specifically to the event itself.

do u prefer watching mens or womens tennis?
Favourite answer:I’m a female tennis player and I prefer women’s tennis.. even though my favourite is Rafael Nadal.
But I generally enjoy seeing women have opportunities, and I enjoy seeing the support of these women.
I seen Serena Williams two days ago at the Australian Open and I was almost emotional because of how much influence she’s had on women and women’s sport. I also seen Rafael Nadal (I was three rows back) and was just in awe, like just in disbelief of the reality he was right there in the flesh a few meters away from me.
Both need to be respected, but I love tennis because men and women are showcased and plaid equally on the international scale. I’m also very unimpressed with all the perverts in this answer section.

Why are fans in the stands at Aussie Open not wearing masks? Why are some tennis players hugging each other after the match with no masks on?
Favourite answer:I was at the Australian open and I thought the same thing..
But the laws at the time said that masks weren’t required outside so no masks were legally required when the roof was open as I guess that I technically considered to be outside.
I did see a match with the roof closed (Rafael Nadal ☺️❤️🇪🇸🏆) and as the roof was closed we had to wear masks.
As for the players hugging, high fiving, shaking hands.. I did see Novak play and he hugged his opponent Faitoe after a close battle.. I guess because they were wrapped up in emotions and their emotions, natural instincts and just human habit after years of hugging their opponent.

I feel sick but I have something important going on this week? Should I stay home and not risk it?
So I am 16 years old and the spring tennis tryouts are in 2 days. I didn't make it in the fall and wanted to try out again but I also feel like I am still not ready since the skill level in my district is insane. Recently I was in a tennis court and the person next door to me was coughing quiet a lot. I got worried and hit with a mask on but it is a couple days later and I feel awful. My head hurts, I threw up multiple times, and I get chills. I do not have a fever and haven't tested for COVID. Should I stay home and quarantine just to be safe and not risk getting the coach and rest of the team exposed?
