  • Using Fusible Batting with a Fleece/Flannel Quilt?

I am making a quilt with flannel as the backing and fleece on the front. I bought fusible batting for the first time and now I am a little nervous. I guess I should iron on the flannel side and not on the fleece side? Any helpful hints would be appreciated.

  • Different Kind of Stitch?

My son asked me to crochet scarves with his school logo on them. I have been using a Tunisian Afghan stitch so I could cross stitch the logo on it, as the Tunisian Stitch is little squares that lends itself to cross stitching. Does anyone know of any other stitches that will lend itself well to cross stitching on it? I have crocheted the logo into the scarf with the Tunisian Stitch, but I am not happy with the results, so I am now cross stitching the logo on the scarves. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Curling edges on my afghan.?

I am crocheting an afghan using an afghan (Tunisian) stitch. I have made many, many afghans using this stitch and the ends always curl. I usually end up using the iron on the steam setting and blowing steam on the ends then pressing them into place with my hands. I do not put the iron on the afghan. I have tried adding a row or two of single crocheting to the ends, loosening or tightening my stitches and I am at my wits end. Someone told me to knit a row or two, but I don't knit. Anyone have any ideas?

  • My Overhead Kitchen light just quit working?

My overhead kitchen light just quit working yesterday. We changed the bulbs and nothing. So hubby changed out the ballast (?) and it is still not working. Everything else on the circuit is working, in fact everything in the house is working. There are 2 light switches to the light and neither turns it on. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

  • Where to Donate Crocheted Blankets?

I have been crocheting and donating afghans for years. We just recently moved and I have started donating to the local nursing homes, hospital and the Children's Sexual Assault Center. I have made and sent many blanket to our service members also. I have made blankets depicting the local Police and Fire Depatments arm patches and donated those to the departments to raffle off. I also make baby blankets for a local church to give to each newly baptized baby. Can anyone think of anywhere else to donate my blankets?

    Thank you for your help.

  • Of Average Intelligence?

If 50% of the US population is of average intelligence, how do you feel about these people handling your money at the bank, your healthcare at the hospital, your legal issues and teaching your children. Before anyone gets excited, I realize that some people in these professions have a higher than average intelligence, but not all of them do. Does this concern you? Does it make you uncomfortable?

  • Raise the roof or lower the floor?

Can someone help settle a question, ok argument, between my husband and me? Our basement, unfinished, is approximately 5 1/2 feet from floor to rafters. If we wanted to add more height to the basement would we raise the roof, or lower the floor? The house was built in the 1890's and has varying sizes of rocks, stones, etc for the foundation. It does not have square foundation "bricks" or anything like is used in houses today. Any insight on this would be most helpful in settling this "question"?

So do I send out announcements again when he graduates? Will people think he is asking for more gifts/money? Do I state "No gifts please"? All of you with multiple degrees...how did you handle it?
